a perfect day in lake county

i read this partnered substack article from veronica beard with the authors describing their ideal day in various parts of new england. i craved for traveling while reading the publication. travel, however, is not in the budget at the moment (if i'm trying to plan the most perfect wedding of my life). instead, i decided to do the most frugal and economically responsible thing. to romanticize my lake county as if it is just as good as nantucket. come spend a perfect day in lake county:

- wake up early to go to the saturday farmers market in downtown willoughby

- coffee and a bagel at fiona's - a lavender matcha or coconut mocha will do - both iced please!

- walk through dtw, checking out some local stores, such as enchanted grove. drive out to antiques and uniques, window shop until hungry.

- sushi lunch at ninja sushi in mentor on the lake

- pool or beach. i usually choose my neighborhood pool, but an afternoon at fairport harbor sounds ideal

- ice cream at fairport creamery

- take a walk through the neighborhood. my current obsession is mentor's city cemetery. 

- early dinner and happy hour at longo's.

- back to dtw, for a good summer patio and a nightcap.

this week's looks

a finalization of the oracle card week, finishing on a strong note with some ysl. last week's oracle card inspo was more successful than my initial attempt last year. clean, concise, a bit leaning on the minimalist side. 

monday - ysl

a sleek and chic reference of ysl haute couture ss2002. a velvet top with much less plunge (work appropriate), and very similar cream maxi skirt. some silver bracelets (with some other fun bangles). dangly black and white earrings, slingback flats and a black leather purse.

tuesday we went back to regular programming hours, and i wore a ribbed knit dress from target. this dress fits so well, i always get compliments. something about the rouching, the comfort, it's a great go-to for an everyday dress up, with no fuss. i paired the dress with a ribbed bolero with bell sleeves, adding some dimension and a pop of color. a bronze-shade statement necklace, and shoes and purse with metallic hardware. sunnies and bracelets to match the vibe. 

wednesday for work a bit risqué with a slight heel as i left neutral sandals in croatia, princess pleats and a minty green top. to tie in the heel's stark camel color with the rest of the light tones, i paired my longchamp bag, and bangles of similar tone.

a simple, all black fit for my therapy sesh/hair brightening afternoon at bestie morg's, where i was sat at the hair salon chair and spilled wedding planning tea.

thursday - work. longchamp bag, and tan sunnies, the hue was saturated with the canadian wildfire smoke. pull and bear linen set and white platform loafers.

friday. pleated printed top, gloria vanderbilt khaki jeans, longchamp tote, black oxfords, and a cream-colored cardigan. the smoky clouds hid the sun and between that and workplace air conditioning, my top alone wouldn't stand a chance.

saturday. woke up late, but it didn't stop me from having a good early afternoon in lake county. we got the most perfect palestinian dates from the fair-trade store green shepherdess. it was also the willoughby art fest. we got some coffee and strolled around until the heavy heat totally consumed us. we dared not entered in elite repeats (i'm doing crazy savings for my future wedding). my look was a subtle diamonds and denim moment. a secondhand shein top with high waisted american eagle jeans, havaianas, metallic purse and john lennon sunnies.

sunny tones for sunday's looks. for church i wore a bright orange 2000s tope with bootcut armani jeans. my fave gold wedges took the dump right before i left the house so i changed into these colorful steve madden kitten heel. gold crossbody purse and chanel sunnies. for the pool i wore these mustard yellow boat shorts from urban outfitters and stole sib's white tank top she got at tjmaxx. birkenstocks, go-to pool tote, gucci sunnies and my fave black bikini. enjoying the neverending midnight sun...

what am i looking forward to next week?

check out next week's nature-related style challenge, straight from sib's garden! louis tomlinson is in town and i finna be in the pit, with an outfit i prepared since this winter! can someone invent a time machine so i can let younger me know i will actually see him live?! end of next week will, if coworkers stick to the plan, be spent in fun company at a local winery. cheers!
