3-22-2026 MY FAVES: beatniks and good beats

what i'm reading... after the pathetics of prince harry, i resorted to the french nihilistic literature, by reading michel huoellebecq's 'the elementary particles' . the french love taboo, raw gross human carnality. they love controversy in art. think serge gainsbourg and "lemon incest" and whatever that father-daughter relationship was. or gaspar noé's films. granted - i know minimal about this topic, very rarely do i watch films like this (even though they're on my watchlist on letterboxd). french lit? i know a thing or two there. i've read my fair share of charles baudelaire, controversial french poet whom i discovered in high school, then camus, sartre and simone de beauvoir.  let's add huoellebecq into the mix. sib recently read sally rooney's 'intermezzo' and it seemed very similar to the description of 'the elementary particles'. two (half) brothers, one is a hedonist, always on the lookout for a fuck, and the other...

6-8-2025 MY INSPO: pride, the icons

Image
happy pride  to all those who celebrate, this week i have been tapping into the influence of the lgbtqa+ community, their impact in fashion, music, and art.  i had a shower thought months ago, thinking about the incredible impact the queer community has just on fashion: your biggest names, the household luxury brands, and their strongest eras led by mostly gay men: lee mcqueen, thierry mugler, jacquemus, gianni versace, karl lagerfeld, dolce & gabbana -  just to name a few.  these men have dressed and loved women in a way that romanticized women and celebrated them better than straight men period.  do the homophones think of this when they search desperately for dupes online? if it wasn't for the artistry of these geniuses how would our local homophobes flaunt with their dupes?

4-20-2025 MY INSPO: neotribalism - from festivals to tattoos

while sib was heavily dodging the coachella influencer fits and performances, i have to claim of being a victim of the festival culture (mind you the only music festival i ever attended is vlajternativa  when i'm in town).  the first time i heard of coachella was in 2011-12 when one direction imagines  (aka pov's). i had to do a deep dive on what coachella meant, while reading imagine, you and harry at coachella (with an appropriate chevron outfit crafted in polyvore)  and the fans start to recognize him ... coachella definitely did something to my brain, and i mimicked the fashion of festival culture, including tribal prints (called aztec prints at the time?), flower crowns, studs and everything 2010 boho chic. growing up with boomer parents, i had vast knowledge of woodstock, alongside with the belief that i was born in the wrong century. so coachella brought me comfort that i too can be in a very hot and uncomfortable crowded place, waiting longer for t...

3-30-25 MY WEEK: pleats and patterns

Image
i finally got some time to do my nails this week, and followed the inspo pic, to some degree. i asked boyfriend his opinion on them. he described them as " very austin powers core ". i guess i can see the groovy in these babies. i was thinking they were giving cute alien  - like ariana grande in break free  or her and lady gaga's rain on me  or the iconic zenon - girl of the 21st century  movie with raven symone. your thoughts? saturday night two victoria's and two siblings embarked on an adventure of a casual girl's night out. there was nothing casual with our fits though. we were a perfect combination of bratz meets sex and the city style-wise. with victoria g in a guiness rugby shirt styled with heart patterned tights, i unintentionally mathed her vibe with a tartan mini skirt and polka dot tights. sib wore a tube top she sewed recently, long linen pants with gucci heels peeking out, victoria s was coordinating color wise with a black top, cotton shirt and ...

03-16-2025 MY FAVES: millennial artists, pop art-ists, and scam artist

music of the week      my  road trip playlist for my pennsylvania trip was curated the moment i booked out hotel stay. this playlist came to use during all the driving we did. besides that, sib and i listened to gaga, old and new, while crossing the ohio-pa border. and on our way back from hershey to pittsburgh, we listened to some very old panic! at the disco songs, with insane titles. i know each song but couldn't tell you what they're called. do you also think that this genre is the reason why millennials are the way they are?      every time i stay at a hotel, i like to check and see if they have profiles and playlists on spotify. i'm currently listening to songs from the kimpton  hotel. before you ask if this is elevator music, it most absolutely could be described as that. but the vibe is impeccable.

3-9-2025: MY FAVES: march mayhem

music of the week      i've been at many music related events lately. it was a good week to discover artists, music enthusiasts, and more events.     i discovered marie & the restaurant , a local band that was performing on thursday at the bar coda . they have two songs out on spotify( always  and find your peace ), and the folksy style is refreshing and simply beautiful.      amy winehouse  is on repeat at home and in the car too, in honor of watching her documentary. she was so unique, and style was for sure something new in the 2000s. sib and i agreed she was the only singer that mastered cursive singing, and made it rich because of her strong vocals (all shade to whisper singing).     when we were at a local dive bar saturday night, it happened to be another random vinyl night. an older gentleman, a vinyl collector, was spinning. when we got there the repertoire was very industrial 90s punk (i caught add by the v...

3-2-2025 MY WEEK: i live for the applause

happy women's history month and one month of peSuit & tie ! i'm thankful to have started this project - it's helping me define my style a lot more, and i'm starting to connect small inspirations and influences on a weekly basis. i hope you all enjoy this as much as i do typing up every sunday night. in a way, it is my new digital diary.     i've been thinking a lot this week about this blog, virality, trends and 'instant fame'. during our outdoor walks (it was very warm at the beginning of the week so we excitedly took our neighborhood walk for the first time this year), sib and i discussed social media and my goal for this blog. i keep my social media pretty private, and i was thinking - would it be better to publicize this more? the thing is - i want to revolt against the instant fame and overnight virality, to practice patience and to use this blog not to yell at the world - hey look at me - but rather take my time and (yes, develop some ...
