11-02-2025 MY INSPO: completely cool stuff

Image
here's some topics that have been in my circle of interest, some influenced by the change in environment, some by nostalgia, and a little bit of both. style icon: eleanor calder eleanor calder  was an impactful icon of the 1d world, the carolyn bessette kennedy of the one direction realm if you will, perhaps even more hated. longtime girlfriend of my fave band member louis tomlinson , she was a model, and for some a cover-up for larry (not going down that rabbit hole). in my early use of tumblr, she was equally hated and praised, a best friend in wattpad stories, and an incredible fashion influencer - without even trying.  eleanor's style is very  minimalist, very british (think topshop everything), but so achievable. her and taylor swift's red era influenced my style the most at the time - skinny jeans, cardigans, braids. it was everything you could already find in your closet, so it made it even more appealing to a girl with no car, no online shopping access, onl...

5-11-2025 MY WEEK: tending to my roots

Image
so many roots to care for this week. the art reception for local art was held, and my painting of my hometown ancient church was displayed. it's a proud moment to use my ancestry as inspiration. sib and i were joking that my next goal should be trying to get an exhibit done in my hometown library (that's where art exhibits happen - we only have a history museum). more literal roots were pulled out of our garden, as sib ordered a complete revamp of our garden. no more square, useless grass lawn - we're planting deeper and more meaningful roots. sib got inspired by docuseries on english gardens, and our mother's own garden. on sunday, my brown roots in my hair got a makeover and i am no longer blonde(ish) - just a new ginger. i got so inspired i made a  playlist inspired by my childhood hair salon trips and endless admiration of the hair salon magazines while waiting.

i want to be forever 21 do you remember your first forever 21 purchase? i got my first yellow bag from my aunt the summer of 2014 after i was begging for a skater skirt. american apparel everywhere digitally, but in reality i lamented alongside 5sos, "so close but so far away..." yet forever 21, quick in following trends, came in handy. not just with a plain black skirt but also with flower crowns, and boho crop tops i ordered from my aunt when she would ask what i'd like from the usa.  while i am a big supporter of the thrift and slow fashion, forever 21 was my saving grace upon moving and needing clothes. it continued to be a savior for nights out when sib felt like "she had nothing in her closet".  i haven't been to my local (basically half-empty) mall since last year (successfully avoiding it during the holidays), and i almost forgot that the forever 21 company filed for bankruptcy, until we went shopping for my mom (this lady has orders when we come a...
