so many roots to care for this week. the art reception for local art was held, and my painting of my hometown ancient church was displayed. it's a proud moment to use my ancestry as inspiration. sib and i were joking that my next goal should be trying to get an exhibit done in my hometown library (that's where art exhibits happen - we only have a history museum). more literal roots were pulled out of our garden, as sib ordered a complete revamp of our garden. no more square, useless grass lawn - we're planting deeper and more meaningful roots. sib got inspired by docuseries on english gardens, and our mother's own garden. on sunday, my brown roots in my hair got a makeover and i am no longer blonde(ish) - just a new ginger. i got so inspired i made a playlist inspired by my childhood hair salon trips and endless admiration of the hair salon magazines while waiting.
looks of the week
so much that i wear comes from mothers - my own, friends', boyfriend's grandma's, aunts... even thrifted items may have come from some mothers. happy mother's day, and thanks for letting me hoard your closets!
monday i wore a graphic tee and purple slacks for work, a regular jacket and my skechers for a relaxed start, then for cinco de mayo dinner i changed in stretchier pinstripe pants, converse and my everyday tote.
tuesday i wore a sleeveless blouse from my mom's days in her 20s, gap chinos, doc marten loafers and a long cardigan.
wednesday i wore a work long sleeve t shirt and my mom's old levi's for work, but for karaoke for the clients, in the evening, i wore mom's old slacks and jacket, a kiko's delivery service t shirt, and borrowed sister's versace sunnies and uniqlo bag.i'm not an outfit repeater, i just have a million of these work shirts. and they come in handy when i'm being lazy with my fits, like thursday when i wore another work shirt with calvin klein black jeans and juicy couture sneakers.
friday for work i wore a simple oversized blouse from h&m and burnt orange bell bottoms from forever 21. for the art reception i wore a very tight top from forever 21, oversized jeans from american eagle, leather crossbody bag, and my black flats with gold hardware. peep the digital camera.
saturday for running errands, i first wore a ralph lauren top and my mom's old jeans sib just brought back from croatia, and the same leather crossbody. for round two of running to various garden centers, i wore my thrifted bruce springsteen concert tee and striped marine slacks (perfect coastal grandma when at petiti's).
sunday for church and my hair appointment, i wore a simple thrifted white long sleeve t shirt originally from target, h&m skinny slacks, my trusty flats and other gold-ish details. sib and i took a walk to the lake erie bluffs in the afternoon and i wore leggings from sam's club, a beatles t shirt under this jacket gifted from boyfriend's grandma, and my skechers.
what am i looking forward to this week?
this week is supposed to be super nice, so we'll take advantage of the weather to take long walks, garden a bunch, and possibly travel locally to see some events. bestie victoria is teaching yoga again on sunday, and eurovision is going on this week too. the croatian candidate is an unfortunate flop, but we might be tempted to watch how things are going (even though it's disgustingly rigged every year). at the museum of arts, the takashi murakami: stepping on the tail of a rainbow exhibit is opening up, and i might take advantage of my freshly gained membership to see the early preview this week.
until then, tell your mom i said hi.
