9-14-2025 MY INSPO: the new queen reigning vogue

big news for the fashionistas these past few weeks was the announcement of anna wintour - the bob - leaving the position of chief editor of the american vogue. speculations arose - who will take over the reign of the bible of fashion, the most important magazine? love it or hate it, this magazine is it. i can attest - as i used to be a subscriber, and still follow the magazine's newest articles, even though we can see, it set in some old ways, and became stale.

gone are now the devil wears prada days, the floral dresses and stilettos, and orders of a whole milk latte from starbucks alongside a blueberry muffin. right? is this also a farewell to uninspiring covers, tone-deaf ai ads, and blatant support for unchic women (looking at you laura sanchez)?

i read anna, the biography by amy odell, i bought it immediately. there was something inspiring about her professional life, dominated mainly by men at the time. no title ix then. i respect anna wintour's ways, but like politics, there needs to be a time where these ancient people leave these high positions, and make way for the new generation. gender aside.

the successor of anna wintour's is now chloé malle, who once oversaw all digital content for vogue, and one of the co-hosts of the run through podcast. i'm excited to see the sleek bun replace the bob (even though sleek buns aren't my style personally...).

the digitalization of vogue and its runway app was truly revolutionary. collections, new and archival, could be summoned by simple searches. i'd even get notifications when new collections would be posted fresh off the runway, or never-seen-before archives. when the met gala honoring karl lagerfeld, a line of beauty, was coming up, the app sent notifications of old chanel, chloé, and fendi runway looks being available. i am disappointed in the newest demand to subscribe to vogue to access the runway feature, but hopeful to see a breath of fresh air by chloé malle.

when scrolling through malle's instagram, she has a croissant emoji by her name, quirky! and she often documents trip to france (she is part french, and her mother, candice bergen, played an editor of vogue in sex and the city). she frequently posts behind-the-scenes elite fashion events, or cozy pics of pets and her kids. her style feels like a more millennial version of anna wintour's: florals, dresses, feminine: perhaps more utilitarian: with the buns, slacks, and flats.

let's hope the new era feels promising, more understanding of the times. i mean, chloe malle was head of the digital vogue - could we hope for more tech savvy, perhaps a bit more positively chronically online? i am hoping this new era will be so good i could be convinced of returning to subscription...
