3-29-2026 MY WEEK: city girl guide

  this week i share my travelogue  of sib and mine weekend trip to the columbus' suburbia. my work bestie recommended sib and i do a weekend trip and visit westerville, a quaint suburb of columbus. sib and i aching to get out the house after such a winter hibernation, we booked a hotel there and decided to leave friday after work, then spend a full day and leave on sunday. while it's not fully spring yet and the first night and morning were cold, no snow or rain caught us at all.  day #1 left a bit late because sib's work dragged on. got a mcdonalds fish filet sandwich and we rode into the sunset, arriving at dusk. as we check in, the front desk girl mentioned a "heated pool". sib and i perked up. neither brought bathing suits. we usually don't utilize amenities and seldom get a hotel that even has a pool. so we drag ourselves to target to grab some necessities, including flip flops and bathing suits. i dreaded every moment of spending for stuff i know i have ...

8-31-2025 MY INSPO: the space age retrofuturistic aesthetic

last week's entrance i described some vintage stores from columbus, in particular boomerang vintage, with groovy midcentury and googie  retro-futuristic design. i am a huge fan of the aesthetic of this era: chrome tinsel for christmas trees, fridges and kitchen appliances with colorful hues, saturated posters hoping for a space age tomorrow. the retrofuturistic   space age  aesthetic is one i wanted to do a deep dive. this aesthetic is shiny and colorful. i associate jello and martinis with this era, and lots of benzoides.  speaking of such, a lot of tumultuous things were happening in the political and social time, that one could try and ignore through colorful pills, and colorful gadgets. the world was coming out of a nasty war, a woman's place was firmly in that fancy kitchen, and those picket white fences did not allow any person of color.  it's interesting how we talk about trends return, and some of the political trends are trying so hard to come back. mid...
