About Me

I'm a 26 year old fashion lover, self proclaimed archivist and nostalgia addict.

My love for fashion started when my mom was clearing out for closet, and gifted my sister and I vintage Pierre Cardin t shirts of hers. She always spoke about her favorite Chanel No 5 perfume, which sparked my interest in having statement pieces. This love bled into everyday games between me and sis, playing games like pretending to own a vintage clothing boutique (called Melani Safari, it was very neutral and animal print based), playing with Bratz dolls and styling them eclectically, and soon after with us being allowed to play Internet flash games, we explored the web and scoured for the best dress up games.

In 5th grade I told my mom I will be getting myself ready from then on, and I didn't need her styling anymore. I began saving money to buy OK je OK!, Croatia's most popular teen magazine at the time. It was my guide not only to current celebrity culture, but also my fashion and style bible.

I was too young to have my own blog at the time, but I began following what girls wore via WeHeartIt and Tumblr. Years later, in High School, I started looking into Instagram style profiles (still pre-influencer era), and I attempted to do similarly on mine. Having a limited budget and a shitty phone didn't get me too far, but at least I managed to make a reputation in high school for being "different", and pushing the boundaries of style. I always thought this was a compliment even though I understand it was often a backhanded one. My ignorance was bliss - I was never discouraged or ashamed.

I graduated high school in 2017 and decided to finally move to the states, nothing fancy, just Ohio suburbia. This is where I was able to refine my style (and also follow the trends much faster).Juggling through college and work, I never had the time to finally create my own blog about fashion, style, culture and inspiration.

I don't think it's too late. Seeing the revival of blogs, indie sleaze, DIY culture and a push against fast fashion and influencing, I am hopeful to see more people re-develop and show their personal style philosophies to the world, not for brand sponsoring, but purely for the love of art, fashion and individuality (while also developing a community - is this contradictory?). I want to be part of it. I hope to see you there :)
