i recently read a substack publication by plum sykes , author of bergdorf blondes , titled  sloanes and the city . she describes a distinct "uncool" look of 80s britain, found on sloane street. i never set foot in the colonizer land, but i was eager to follow plum's guide on the 2026 version of sloane girls . thinking, ohio has rainy and glum weather more often than not, especially during this seasonal transition, why not take advice from across the pond? here's how to get that chic undone-ness girls like alexa chung and jane birkin do so flawlessly 1. channel a character from a sloane book to achieve this, plum suggests to find a classic scarf, not too trendy, but definitely with some quirk. i would choose this handmade gradient knit scarf, then color block with shoes, purse and top. classic straight leg jeans and a trench to put some balance with the color.  2. carry unshowy bags plum sets limits on the appropriate bag. monograms are fine, but no logos or prints t...

ahoy mates! there's a spring trend out in the sea. even though they say dead man tells no tales, i'll let you in on the scoop before it becomes viral. pinterest trends have a board called swashbuckled, described this way: raid your closet - piratecore is calling: stacking belts, quest-worn suede, and smudged "just-off-the-boat" makeup. style's gone off the map - arr you in?" marine-life is a constant summer inspo for outfits. you have the traditional sailor looks with striped tops and chinos, mermaid vibes and "seapunk" of the 2010s, the ocean is a constant inspiration to the whole world. read this  substack article  by son of tibi founder amy smilovic - gabriel smilovic.  we may not have had a pirates of the caribbean reboot (yet) but many of us swooned over orlando bloom and were obsessed with keira knightley's snatched looks in the films. with festival  season ahead of us, almost tangible, boho-adjacent fits are popping up on my feed, and i c...

3-22-2026 MY INSPO: a place for women

Image
this week i am inspired by typical feminine places. whether it's the woman who lived in a shoe, the mall, or maybe the imaginary world of a girl's diary, i am there too. i have iss-shoes i won't fall for the cbk-ification that is forcing every girl into co. bigelows in nyc to buy a tortoise shell headband. but she is a style icon. anyways, i recently bought these calvin klein heels and laughed to sib: "should i do a cbk inspired look?" these patent beauties have a square toe and are very comfy but still tall. i am not going to try and pull a cbk look though. i love references and do so constantly, but maybe because the internet is saturated with "get cbk's look" videos make this less appealing to do. instead, i've been plotting some cute easter looks. whether or not they look kennedy-approved, it's up to you.  dear diary... since fourth grade i was that  girl with the diary, key and lock. i got my first diary on my birthday and it changed m...
