Image
what i'm reading... continuing the fabulous bergdorf blondes , just in time as i did a touch up with my blonde hair, got a trim,  and  bought some purple shampoo. no brassiness this summer. what i'm listening to... sib and i went to a siniša vuco  concert on saturday. for the people not aware of this singer, vuco created numerous drunk hits every croatian is born to know. he mixes rock and roll and balkan folk and often features folk singers from different regions like ana bekuta and halid be š li ć . one may associate vuco with breaking their glass cups and ripping their t shirt while drunk, semi-vulgar and trashy, but there's an art in mixing two genres that rarely ever mix. and to my knowledge, only vuco has done it so successfully - he is a household name.  here's some vuco top hits i urge you to add to your drunk nite out playlist. some are classic hits; some are super niche:   šta je,  šta je rajske kočije volim narodno sanja volim piti i ljubi...

4-19-2026 MY WEEK: a fashion equation

back home this week, with another booked and busy weekend. sib had a huge project for work so her friday was all about networking, plus i dragged her to a fundraising gala for adults with disabilities in sports. we got lucky by winning some raffle prizes. needless to say, my makeup stash is set for the next 5 years.  saturday was record store day  and boyfriend and i went to the record den . at first, i was almost impulsively grabbing records and cds, such as an iggy pop chanson record, or best of lenny kravitz. then i went to the second-hand record section, the prices were single digits, just how i like it. i found a donna summer - live and more  4 side record, and an american gigolo soundtrack . giorgio moroder created the soundtrack of my spring, clearly.  in the cd section i was almost greedily scouring the names, boyfriend helping me find a $1.49 madonna - bedtime stories  cd and i found a janet jackson - velvet rope  one. the bedtime stories cd was pl...

8-10-2025 MY INSPO: josipa lisac

Image
one could say singer and icon  josipa lisac is the croatian version of cher, but with more natural eclectic features. josipa lisac can be described as one of the older chic ladies you'd meet somewhere in europe, that have this air of wisdom and knowledge. not snobby, but truly artistic.  josipa lisac was first introduced to me as a child, perhaps even infant, as her christmas album with the croatian choir ivan goran kovačić has been played in our household for as long as i can remember. later in my youth i would see her music videos, her interviews, and discover more songs. her unusually deep voice - contralto, and bright red hair cannot be ignored. in the regional musical scene, she has been active since the 60s. her musical style includes multiple genres: jazz, traditional balkan music, rock and roll, and pop. with her partner and lover, karlo metikoš , she created one of the best albums in yugoslav history: dnevnik jedne ljubavi (diary of a love) . she excelled in covering...
