it was a feast-full of a week my friends, and sib and i treated ourselves frequently with eating out, as did boyfriend and i. while i enjoy cooking every so often, i admit i have no desire to, and will always rather eat out. i understand the health and economic benefits of cooking at home, but i'll never say to no to tacos at barrio, ramen at ichiraku, udon noodles at asian feastery, or all you can eat sushi at kintaro. same goes for breakfast - i'll indulge in the low-key diner vibes of manhattan deli or go for the continental buffet after church at concord family restaurant.
a very cat-oriented week it was too. on our late-night walk, we had a shadow follow us, a cat kind enough to let us pet it a million times. we also participated in a kitten kanuudle fundraiser with amazing raffles (neither of us won). sib and i don't own a cat due to allergies, but maybe someday we'd say yes to adopting, maybe, just maybe...
sib and i were the youngest attendees of the silent film festival at the museum of art, and enjoyed watching lady windermere's fan with a live orchestra. call us niche and esoteric. the week ended on a walk through the botanical gardens and checking out a book and craft fair. we made bookmarks and walked through the post-rain fragrant gardens.
this week's looks
back to my routine i go. another warmer week, so i've been trying to keep it light. confusing colder mornings and evenings, a work a/c that may or may not work, depending on the day, and in the closet, i stare and scheme until something sensible comes to mind.
i got an ipad at work last week, and my longchamp looked sad and stretched. i reverted to the classic laptop bag that i dreaded and abandoned years ago. a compromise must be made though, because my right shoulder is feeling the pressure. my idea is to keep the laptop bag for the laptop - and other tech stuff. but a normal purse is a necessity - for my eye drops, wallet, keys and sunnies. possibly a weekly switch up with my totes and purses - to pop off the fits, give each bag some love.
monday for work i wore a white well tailored cotton blouse (sleeves rolled up), wide black pants from forever 21, platform doc martens with hearts, and vivienne westwood necklace and beaded bracelet. for evening walk i wore flared sweatpants, a knit black sweater and a tomato-red 2000s halter top. uniqlo tote and pumas not pictured.
caught a case of closet confusion on tuesday - a vince cameo 3/4 sweater, tan slacks, penny loafers. frida kahlo earrings and tortoise shell sunnies. still too warm for the transitional sweaters. wednesday for work i wore a work tee with long jeans, sneakers, and the vanity fair tote was chosen as bag of the week. for dinner i thought an appropriate top would be anthony bourdain with the finger, leggings (for comfort), and sneakers for an evening walk after dinner.
thursday for work i wore these tibi pants, vintage bruce springsteen tee, and i've been trying to accessorize more with jewelry, you may notice. for dinner at kintaro and walk, i wore this zara crop with sweatpants (necessary for all-you-can-eat), and wore the same shoes.
friday for work i wore a vintage velvet top with a vintage talbots skirt embellished with white flowers. wore loafer flats and vesarce sunnies.
had to run to the bank in the afternoon and swapped the skirt for off-white ralph lauren jeans, and chose different sunnies.
for the silent film festival i wore this asymmetrical silk ramy brook top, black calvin klein jeans, vintage purse, and black flats with gold hardware.
saturday for an afternoon date with boyfriend, i wore a black cotton tee and cream sweatpants, converse, and uniqlo tote. for the kitten kanuudle i wore this 3/4 pattern top, corduroy camel pants, and black and gold flats. i'm carrying this leather crossbody.
while on our date saturday, i thrifted this cassini black velvet shift dress at elite repeats (one of my favorite consignment and vintage stores). i wore it all day sunday - church, brunch, visiting aunt and uncle and botanical gardens. oleg cassini was such a prominent american designer in the 50s and 60s, and me being a huge grace kelly and jackie o fan, i couldn't resist. plus - it was 50% off! styled here with a bunch of bracelets, vanity fair tote, and steve madden chunky sandals.
what am i looking froward to this week?
there's been a lot of local events celebrating 100 years of art deco, and the library has some cool events this week as well. party like gatsby, right old sport?
