11-02-2025 MY INSPO: completely cool stuff
here's some topics that have been in my circle of interest, some influenced by the change in environment, some by nostalgia, and a little bit of both.
style icon: eleanor calder
eleanor calder was an impactful icon of the 1d world, the carolyn bessette kennedy of the one direction realm if you will, perhaps even more hated. longtime girlfriend of my fave band member louis tomlinson, she was a model, and for some a cover-up for larry (not going down that rabbit hole). in my early use of tumblr, she was equally hated and praised, a best friend in wattpad stories, and an incredible fashion influencer - without even trying.
eleanor's style is very minimalist, very british (think topshop everything), but so achievable. her and taylor swift's red era influenced my style the most at the time - skinny jeans, cardigans, braids. it was everything you could already find in your closet, so it made it even more appealing to a girl with no car, no online shopping access, only a dream and blogs.
here's some looks i found, many are from a more recent era.
oversized supreme tee + pleather leggings, crossbody bag, white sneakers, and aviators. a simple formula of the swag era. i too, was a victim of wanting tight leather pants, and tried looking for pleather leggings that wouldn't stretch and peel at the ass. i later found real leather pants, or wide leg faux ones. they simply fitted better
a cute sporty look, something one could use for a tennis match watch party. white romper set, gucci crossbody, and white low top sneakers. love these sunglasses. great summertime look - this is something you could really wear, whether on court or at the club.
another all-white look. a moment for the powerful couple look (black and white), i think this is so hawt! you could recreate this easily too, with a pair of white jeans and a crop top, or a top with asymmetrical cut. this girl really loves her white sneakers. that's loyalty.
again - aviator and white sneaker combo. love this leather meets fur jacket. these cropped jackets seem to stay a modern classic. i have one in suede, and sib has a leather one. white top and leggings for a porter look. yet, even while walking her dog, eleanor looks chic and put together.
here's a more recent look (is 2018ish still recent?) - oversized jacket mixed with over-the-knee boots (we all had at least one pair when these were trendy, right?), styled with a twirly scarf and aviator frame glasses. this juxtaposition kinda stays a bit outdated, but at the time, ariana grande was the pioneer of oversized top as dress + knee high boots, so we have seen our fair share of this type of look.
here are some looks i tried recreating from my own closet (at the time, i am using just items from my midwest closet. in the future, as more items from croatia get logged, i might feel eager to use them in my style analyses)
here's a great layered summer look, for festivals and nights out when it might get fresh. basic white tee and jorts, paired with some edgy leather boots (or high top sneakers?) and leather jacket. it looks like eleanor is wearing a choker, so i added the only one i own.
another simple look - black skin-tight top (perhaps a bodysuit), jeans and a gucci belt (instead a basic one from my closet), black loafers, more aviators and crossbody bag.
black jean shorts, high heel boots, and an oversized flannel shirt. these looks are appealing because of their simplicity, tomboyish vibe, but it doesn't look messy still. very low effort, but not neglectful. and like i mentioned previously, these are simple fits you don't need to break your bank for. each piece already exists in your closet as a staple piece, or could be found at a thrift store
another simple look: skinny jeans, white top, cropped leather jacket - and those damn white sneakers. i have one pair of one star converse shoes - can you even consider them white though? i don't have those skinny jeans anymore, but i found some straight leg ones that match eleanor's colors. and while i do have plenty black leather jackets, this suede charlotte russe cream one matches the style of eleanor's in the photo better.
here's that supreme look - translated to my closet. this damn tee from my croset, vintage leather pants, one star converse, and the eleanor calder approved accessories: bracelets, crossbody bag, aviator sunnies.
love her or hate her, she was the influencer that didn't speak - she just existed in our teenage realm, and subconsciously showed us this effortless everyday minimalistic style as the go to formula when you're a rockstar-boyband girlfriend/beard.
mom's moodboard
my mom has no idea what the hell a blog is, nor is she able to comprehend what i write, or why. but she respects it. i sat down with her during her lunch break one day this week, to see what are some of my mom's faves, inspirations and go-to tricks. these prompts were inspired by the most recent issue of vogue australia, and one of it's articles
1. signature scent - chanel n°5
2. creative destination - in the garden
3. beauty wisdom - go as natural as you can. just enhance some stuff and dress up nice, decent - it has to be according to the event (church, new years, a day at the coffee shop - need to dress according to that)
4. favorite project - creating the garden and cultivation of new plants (currently: citruses)
6. restorative practice - praying the rosary
7. pivotal figure - mother teresa
8. skin savior - drink water, drink water, drink water. and nivea milk
from boyfriend's watchlist
here's some neat items from boyfriend's ebay watchlist, facebook wishlist, and just recent finds he says he totally needs.
sweatshirts and sweaters - the first one is a pharrell x adidas top boyfriend says he would totally wear "one day when i go to japan". the other two were facebook finds i sent him, that totally screamed "boyfriend would wear this". boyfriend's love for polo and the reverse logo would be something unique and funny, and he adores v8 juice (and often makes his own). this is a women's cardigan, but he still loves it.
watches - boyfriend explained that women's rolex watches and mens have different price points, and he would totally buy a women's instead of mens. mother of pearl details have been his spotlight, as well as tiffany blue, and these gucci watches. the last one - red and green, boyfriend said was "so ugly", but i thought it was a very cool one. something about it screams italian, and being so close to our neighbors, i've been influences by their style.

la dolce vita
being in hometown benkovac, in the region of dalmatia, one can evidently see the influence of past colonizations from venice and italy. you can still see it - in our dialect and words used, our traditions and architecture.
here's a list of l'italiano influenza on my mind:
house of gucci, versace, valentino, armani, dolce & gabbana, schiaparelli, prada
vintage pasta packaging and bold fonts with colors
traditional meets trendy, heavy tans
italo disco (featured in a gucci podcast), music from call me by your name, giorgio moroder, and my playlist tutta forza - a compilation of italian beats
vespas and formula 1
the card game briscola
mobs and mother mary, and the book racconti sgradevoli (i read in croatian, translated to disgusting stories)
so now i'm listening to a bunch of italian songs, and indulging in the influence as i'm here - fashion, music, words and imported goods. vacation is about the sweet life, so i'm taking that dolce vita seriously, capisce?
