7-19-2026 MY FAVES: rockstars, self-help, blonde ambition
what i'm reading...
i finished the book the magic years (scenes from rock and roll). i enjoyed the deep dive of martin scorsese's start in film! the author, jonathan taplin, is another ohioan from shaker heights. i feel like he contributes a lot to the whole "birthplace of rock and roll", and my next hall of fame visit i'll be searching for his name around... the author's message was strong and hopeful for the future of the arts in america's harsh political climate.
i began reading the subtle art of not giving a fuck, a totally millennial self-help book written by a blogger mark manson. often found in many book recommendations (probs was a popular one during the buzzfeed era of the internet).
the book was published in 2016 and it's funny how it truly feels a bit outdated. the author uses language witty for the time of millennial internet sarcasm. while i cringed for most of chapter one, the message beneath the simple buzzwords is still very accurate, especially in this day and age of internet weirdness. while manson is not a psychiatrist, or therapist, i will continue reading to see if, perhaps, i too, stop giving a fuck about stuff that may not be that important.
here's this week's top five newly saved songs:
the lady in my life - michael jackson
isaac - madonna
murphy's law - róisín murphy
on my own - miley cyrus
overprotected (the darkchild remix) - britney spears
