7-26-26 MY FAVES: 1D is sweet sixteen!

 what i'm watching...

sib and i spent this week rewatching this is us (one direction tour documentary), old one direction video diaries, and really all old 1D content we still know by heart. the band turned 16 - with an everlasting hiatus and no knowledge of ever returning back together, and one member - dead. my younger self would be sad to hear that, but she'd be happy to know i'm still just as obsessed with the band as i was when i was 14.
regressing back to teen habits, sib and i began rewatching pretty little liars. i was actually petrified at the few pedo moments (mr fitz and spencer's future brother-in-law? unwatchable now that my brain has fully developed). nevertheless, for the few cooler days when we can't go to the pool, this show has been serving as fab fitspo for some 2010 crucial styling moments: dangly necklaces, oversized sunnies, flip phones, tights, and inappropriate funeral-wear.

the reason i've been late with posting is because i watched the 80s masterpiece the lost boys. rock star vampires and coney island vibes with corey haim, corey feldman, kiefer sutherland, and dangly earrings and mullets, inxs in the soundtrack... say less.

what i'm listening to...

a beautiful coincidence happened this week. sib and i went to louis tomlinson concert at jacobs pavilion on monday. louis was my fave member of all time, and i cried the moment he walked on stage. another big moment for my younger self. naturally, all week i've been bouncing between his setlist for the tour, and some 1D oldies in honor of the band's 16th birthday.
a nearly religious pilgrimage of louis fans

here's top 5 louis songs from his concert:
written on your face
imposter
out of my system
night changes (uhm yes, he sang that!)
the observer

and in case you're feeling the one direction infection, here's one song out of each album that you maybe forgot about:
tell me a lie (up all night)
c'mon c'mon (take me home)
diana (midnight memories)
stockholm syndrome (four)
what a feeling (made in the a.m.)

what i'm reading...

i completed the subtle art of not giving a fuck. a very simple, digestible read. if you've been in contact with any self-help or life improvement book (ever), this is just another regurgitated, millennial version of anything you may or may not have learned. here's a quote that stuck with me:
they call themselves life coaches and charge money to help others, even though they're only twenty-five years old and haven't actually accomplished anything substantial in their lives.
this quote amused me because i just saw a tiktok of someone asking where the "10,000 hours of experience" went before you could say you have experience. we see this non-stop online. quasi-professionals that may have taken one nutrition class in community college, or an herba-life devotee dictating about one's gut health and talking about how "the human digestion system is truly amazing". bitch???
started tri drame na everestu (translated: three dramas on everest) by croatian mountaineer stipe božić. i often follow sib's footsteps in her everest obsession. it's a great book to keep you cool by the pool.
