3-8-2026 MY FAVES: women in music, rakes and bachelors, harry squared
what i'm reading...
started reading spare - prince harry's scandalous memoir. i enjoy the few bits on princess diana as a mother, other than that, i am yet to get into the juicier details as i currently weave through harry's privileged youth.
what i'm watching...
bridgerton season 4 ended fantastically, with a happy ending so tense you can only expect in the bridgerton universe.
this was def my fave season.
i've been catching up with gospodin savršeni - the croatian version of the bachelor. sib has been playing it on the tv over the week, and i hate to admit i've been following along. i can only microdose reality tv. watching these people act so stupid or psycho makes me anxious. it feels like a modern-day gladiator fight. we put these desperate influencer wannabes into a villa on crete to battle for two dudes - one of them significantly lacking iq!
many 20-something year old women attended harry day at the rock and roll hall of fame to celebrate the newest harry styles album kiss all the time. disco, occasionally. other than some cute freebies like stickers, pins and posters, we got to watch his one night only - manchester performance from netflix. as a directioner, i was in love again. as a grown adult, i was relieved i got to experience a concert-like event without spending hundreds of dollars to try and see him live. love you, harry but we're getting too greedy here...
what i'm listening to...
i finally fully fell in love with olivia dean. this artist has been meandering my suggestions, from stalking bestie nicole's airbuds or watching the latest bridget jones movie, to social media reports on her wonderful award-winning gowns. i finally realized what mood she was meant for - the perfect misty day, early morning, the fog not risen yet. early spring and the gloom that follows, usually has me craving a panera soup for lunch. listening to her songs while doing paperwork in the office with a window, freshly brewed coffee and only olivia's voice breaking the silence, right before midday chaos. olivia dean songs i fell in love with:
it isn't perfect but it might be
a couple minutes (a colors show) - ft colors
man i need
"y'all don't wanna hear me, y'all just wanna dance" - seemed like the message harry tried to send. his previously gentler pop hits were either the perfect radio formula, or gut-wrenching heartbreak, everything said, done, and played in subtlety.
i got to experience the one night only concert video and the amount of instrumental and bass is new and refreshing. it's still harry, but instead of the lightness of haruomi hosono's influence last album, we're getting the grittiness of lcd soundsystem and synth, with david bowie vibes.
i love this album, it's possibly my favorite out of all 4. i enjoyed the ass-shaking pop, dance no more, and ready, steady go. it's good to keep the balance of the ballads such as coming up roses and paint by numbers. other faves include american girls and aperture. like the i-d review, i have no idea what the meaning behind the album is, other than to dance, and respect your mother.
