2-8-2026 MY WEEK: it's not gstaad, but it will do

 my legs are still sore from my first-ever attempt in skiing (not a failure per se, but sib and i agreed we'll be taking lessons soon). my cheeks still carry a red tint of windburn, and the lack of sleep due to late nite socials is evident in my sluggish demeanor. the obvious highlight of my whole week was escapism from cold to freezing as we took a road trip to holiday valley for a weekend skifest organized by the croatian fraternal union.

the drive was slow and dark through salted and still snowy highways. the townhouse we stayed in was so hygge, fitting as i recently shared in a blog post (sib is now an expert in hygge). 

the baby hills were as far as what sib and i stomached on our first ever ski endeavor, and we really weren't confident enough. nevertheless, something to cross of the bucket list for 2026. a sport i've never tried before. i was enjoying boyfriend's osha-approved neon look as he skied down slopes. sure, my lashes were frosting while observing, but it was worthy of the view.

the croatian cleveland community did what it does best and kept the social part thriving. with our local band belting away classics, a chance to dance for sib and i. we dressed our apres-ski best and enjoyed drinks and dance, and dishing with our friends. cocktail of the week: vanilla crown royal + cherry coke and cherry vodka. 


this week's looks

tiktok is a lair of "theories" and "rules", so many times reinterpreted. one that crossed my ethernet orbit was the 7-point rule, which i have heard of before, and it sparked my interest again. this theory states, to feel fully styled and accessorized, each part of your worn wardrobe is 1 point. to look styled and chic, you want a minimum of 7 points. here are my scores:

monday i was sure in the fur. i wore a very thin, very mesh top to work with high waisted rebecca minkoff dark wash jeans and a heeled boot. red chanel sunnies and work bags (top + jeans + coat + hat + sunnies + bag + bag + shoes + jewelry = 9 points)









tuesday i wore the new diane von furstenburg sweater vest, layered on top of a black turtleneck. little blue and brown mix with brown pants and coat. (sweater vest + turtleneck + pants + silk scarf + coat + bag + work bag + loafers + earmuffs + jewelry = 10 points)














wednesday i was craving summertime with my blouse and bag of choice. doc martens' boots and fur suede coat to pull me back to my reality. (blouse + sunnies + jeans + bag + work bag + boots + coat +jewelry + earmuffs = 9 points)










wednesday night went to the library to return belle du seigneur and get new books for sib. did not achieve the 7-point rule, at a mere 5 points with leggings + sweatshirt + coat + bag + ugg slippers. my defense? the book disheveled me and i had a hard time coming back to reality.


thursday's work fit: blouse + coat + jewelry + black jeans + earmuffs + purse + boots + sunnies = 8 points

















friday i color blocked with a lime green satin blouse, and baby pink purse. blouse + coat + jeans + boots + hat + purse + jewelry = 7 points





















friday nite starts skifest saga. my fits are loosely based on the work of artist emmzonn. arrival to our townhouse: jacket + white gap shirt + striped h&m blazer + jeans + purse + jewelry + bag + boots + ushanka + gloves = 10 points













friday nite social, outfit shown on the right side. powder blue sweater + distressed jeans + leather boots + jewelry + coach bag + fur coat = 6 points.






















saturday on the slopes. i ended up purchasing a balaclava to avoid frostbite, for now here's boyfriend's neon one + ralph lauren royal blue turtleneck (in honor of our olympians) + northface snow pants + docs (or ski boots), coach bag + ushanka (when i wasn't wearing the helmet) + silk scarf (that did nothing for protection) + coat +gloves + sunnies = 10 points

feeling like an olympian in the village, i cozied up post ski time in the townhouse while waiting for pizza dinner and light pregaming. wool ralph lauren sweater + leggings + jewelry = flopped (?) at 3 points. no medal for me.
















saturday nite special: social look was based on the left-hand illustration. v neck blouse + leopard print balloon skirt + tights + leather boots + headband + pink purse + jewelry + fur coat (not pictured) = 8 points











sunday's look was another one loosely based on illustration. ralph lauren turtleneck + skinny jeans + docs + ushanka + sunnies + purse + purse + jacket + jewelry + scarf = 10 points












what am i looking forward to this week?

expect valentine's day inspired looks for the week. all the pink and red palettes will come out extra. you know i love a good red look. now it will be with intention.
i'm excited for v-day parties at work, date with boyfriend, and sibling time on the actual holiday. bisou!

  it was a feast-full of a week my friends, and sib and i treated ourselves frequently with eating out, as did boyfriend and i. while i enjoy cooking every so often, i admit i have no desire to, and will always rather eat out. i understand the health and economic benefits of cooking at home, but i'll never say to no to tacos at barrio , ramen at ichiraku , udon noodles at asian feastery, or all you can eat sushi at  kintaro . same goes for breakfast - i'll indulge in the low-key diner vibes of manhattan deli  or go for the continental buffet after church at concord family restaurant .  a very cat-oriented week it was too. on our late-night walk, we had a shadow follow us, a cat kind enough to let us pet it a million times. we also participated in a kitten kanuudle  fundraiser with amazing raffles (neither of us won). sib and i don't own a cat due to allergies, but maybe someday we'd say yes to adopting, maybe, just maybe... sib and i were the youngest attendees ...

9-14-2025 MY INSPO: the new queen reigning vogue

  big news for the fashionistas these past few weeks was the announcement of anna wintour - the bob - leaving the position of chief editor of the american vogue. speculations arose - who will take over the reign of the bible of fashion, the most important magazine? love it or hate it, this magazine is it . i can attest - as i used to be a subscriber, and still follow the magazine's newest articles, even though we can see, it set in some old ways, and became stale.  gone are now the devil wears prada days, the floral dresses and stilettos, and orders of a whole milk latte from starbucks alongside a blueberry muffin. right? is this also a farewell to uninspiring covers, tone-deaf ai ads, and blatant support for unchic women (looking at you laura sanchez)?  i read anna , the biography by amy odell, i bought it immediately. there was something inspiring about her professional life, dominated mainly by men at the time. no title ix then. i respect anna wintour's ways,...

10-19-2025 MY WEEK: travel essentials and super products

sib was dropped off to the airport end of this week, for her "vacay" to start. don't be alarmed, by vacay, we mean harvesting the olives our parents own. meanwhile, i have a few days of prepping and packing. i shared with you my packing list, months ago - was it vermont or pittsburgh trips? well, here i am to share my essential packing list for this month's big trip.  somewhere on the indyx realm on substack, i read that 12 items can be enough for a two week trip, they used as an example, to europe. of course i was up for the challenge. i love a good no-fuss packing list. and i am grateful to have a semi-wardrobe back in croatia (and a love for shopping, am i right?). still, i haven't been in the homeland during fall, since my senior year of high school. through the years my fall/winter wardrobe diminished, due to the oversaturated summer trips and necessity for summer wardrobe space in my parents' tiny apartment.  let's get onto what's in my suitcase....
