i read the september issue of l'officiel. loved the article on manolo blahnik's marie antoinette collection, and his thoughts on shoes:

with a focus on craftsmanship, comfort, and "a touch of eccentricity," blahnik's designs are rooted in wearability. "shoes are not just accessories," he says. "they can transform a woman and change how she feels." his design process has changed little over time. "drawing shoes has become a kind of language, my way of dreaming," he says. "i know now that a shoe's magic is revealed only through iteration; returning to a design with fresh eyes leads to surprising new possibilities."

sib won a goodreads giveaway and got a comic book called phantom road. described as mad max: fury road meets the sandman in this high-octane adventure wrapped in a dark fantasy aesthetic i don't read comics, ever really, but a free book on my shelf will never go unread.

i read the latest issue of elle magazine, with victoria beckham on the cover. this issue dives into the brave latinos defining the fashion and pop makeup and hair world; a$ap rocky's love for being a dad, and his upcoming films; and an exclusive interview with duran lantink, and his plans for his new role at jean paul gaultier. not so fun fact, his debut show at paris - the jpg ss26 show - did not receive a standing ovation. i'm too scared to look. did he go overboard with his silicone titties, claiming "sexual freedom" instead of admitting it was fetishization?

next book is a throwback of my high school bookshelf: i am reading the second book from the series the mortal instruments: city of ashes. i read book #1 years ago in high school, and saw the movie (with lily collins and jamie campbell bower), and i tried to get into the shadow hunters series but never got interested enough. i found the city of ashes during our recent garage sale expedition, for free, and hell - why not? it's a ya fantasy kind of fall!
