3-16-2025 MY WEEK: live from the factories

this week was a true spring awakening. with many of my actual gang members going on various "spring break trips" to the most random locations (colorado, florida, nyc, pennsylvania), a new lady gaga album blasting left and right, the sun shining and air electrified with dopamine, i know i'm not the only one from the cleveland area feeling the relief that this horrid winter finally is at it's end. goodbye single digit temperatures and frostbite fear. welcome back spring of 2009 - when the recession was at it's peak but i am blissfully happy (reverting back to 11 year old self).
VG invited us to a cavs game on tuesday night before her trip. then boyfriend and i got hotpot and sushi thursday night before his. this week had that excitement all around, everyone prepping and planning.
sib and i decided pittsburgh and hershey was our spring break getaway. we took a 2 hour road trip to pittsburgh, and we were blessed by the leprechauns as it was a perfect spring day for exploring the city. we visited grandma b's, a tiny sandwich shop featured in anthony bourdain's pittsburgh episode, for brunch. on my to do list, was the andy warhol museum - and i dressed the part - i took inspiration from factory girl edie sedgwick. my t shirt was a uniqlo artist top featuring andy warhol's banana. for art i will neglect wearing green.
would this make numbers on tumblr cca 2014?

then we made our way through the hills into market square. i blame it on the drinking holiday and the warm weather - but sib and i got drunk - real fast. we found the best sushi ever and then tried beef tartare in the hotel - hotel monaco (which was also the hotel anthony bourdain stayed in. it's probs visually the most beautiful hotel i've ever stayed in). when we're drunk, money doesn't matter. we need to try everything.

we woke up with alarming stomachs early, and dreading the fact that our road trip will continue through hills on an almost 4 hour trip to hershey. i may splurge on fancy food but i will avoid all tolls while driving.
armed with gatorlyte and pretzels, we played my pennsylvania road trip playlist and tried to avoid the rain. the back roads were a sight to see. does one road need 5 gentlemen's clubs?
when we finally made it to hershey world, sib and i felt giddy like we're in disneyland. we hopped on the historical trolley that took us through town, and the tour guide fed us with kisses and reese's cups (by the time the tour was over, sib and i were almost full just from all the chocolates). we saw an animated expedition with more candy, and shopped for easter themed candies. finally, we got to design our own chocolates in the factory, which will be opened for special occasions only.

we finally decided to leave after creating our chocolates, high on sugar and exhausted from lack of sleep, now having to battled a few more hours back. the rain kept me awake to pay attention on the road, this time we were chasing the sunset back to pittsburgh. i am finally back actually home, this afternoon. we stopped at a consignment store on our way home this morning, to fulfill my tradition of sourcing something secondhand in each state i visit.

this week's ootd's

monday at work i chose a simple all black look. h&m turtle neck, thrifted express knee length dress and a coat from guess.

🠄tuesday at work i spiced it up with a black and white skirt combo. my skirts have been waiting for their time to shine again. tibi top, forever 21 maxi skirt, mom/s vintage blazer.

tuesday night for the cavs game i wore another all black outfit, but added boyfriend's race car jacket and sib's brand new bag she sewed.🠆

wednesday at work - the halfway point of the week - i chose for a relaxing look (it was not relaxing at work). work t shirt, vans shirt, and mom's old levi's.

thursday at work i went back to skirts (and some color), and for hot pot date i took it more casual (everyone knows that comfort matters at an all-you-can-eat). thrifted top and skirt, and forever 21 pants

friday at work i took advantage of the beautiful weather again. thrifted top (i believe it matches the skirt from thursday - both are originally from the limited. could be the same collection?), mom's vintage pencil skirt, and target flats.

saturday's pittsburgh trip consisted only of edie sedgwick inspired looks. i did not plan to wear tights during this trip so i opted for leggings.

another edie-inspired fit for sunday's hershey trip. i debuted my t shirt, paired with black calvin klein jeans, my short raincoat and some old juicy couture sneakers.

sunday night we took a walk through downtown pittsburgh after our hershey trip, to grab some food. and here's me posing in front of the hotel hallway's wallpaper.

sib was on a sewing rampage this week and used one of our thrifted purses as a pattern to create another shoulder bag.

it's a cute little thing with functioning outside pockets as well. a new spring staple right?

what am i looking forward to this week?

now that i'm finally home from all the driving through pennsylvania, i'm taking monday off to recoup - and type up all of these entries for you to read.
the following days should be warm, so i'm going to spend most days outside. there's a vintage festival in the ix center on saturday. should i be spending more money?  we'll determine this through the week.
