2-9-2025 FAVES OF THE WEEK: too many sausages, not enough reading!

 MUSIC OF THE WEEK

Lady Gaga's Abracadabra is on repeat this week. I'm so excited for Gaga's new album. She is truly my favorite singer and I am so thrilled to see her new era. If anyone needs an eras tour, it's Gaga.
Chromeo's Fancy Footwork gained some virality on TikTok with a cute dance I kind of want to recreate (I know I never will). I personally don't care for Chromeo, they have a great song with Solange called Lost on the Way Home. I just feel like their lyrics sound like stuff I tried writing when I was 12 and thought I could write songs for One Direction (fanfic brainrot). Like, is it satire in a The Lonely Island way? Or maybe it's campy for its time, like LMFAO? Either way, Fancy Footwork is catchy enough to gain its spot in my Spotify liked playlist.
I finally got around to listening to The Weeknd's new album Hurry Up Tomorrow, and it felt like listening to his confession in church, or a therapy session - it was very personal. Wake Me Up ft. Justice and very the gospel-ish Give Me Mercy were my faves. The first one sent me on a rabbit hole down Justice lane (also the influence of last week's indie sleazery).
I discovered LoLo Knows, a local DJ who I got to see on Friday at the Museum of Art, and she is pretty cool. Not a lot of songs are on Spotify, but will definitely be on repeat this summer.
Solange and ?uestlove's Twice came up yesterday from a random playlist and that was stuck in my head all night long.

BOOKS OF THE WEEK

Even though my plan was to start this Croatian book Svjedok Pokojnih, in all honesty I haven't even started yet. While running errands we did stop at the library to check out their "blind date with a book" section and I picked up a book called Band of Sisters -  described  as "women from Smith College go to Europe to aid soldiers of villagers during WWI". I haven't started this one either. Actually both have been on pause because my Winter edition of Vogue arrived in the mail, and due to being busy with work, I've been struggling to finish the magazine too. Hoping to finish the mag, start Band of Sisters, then work my way to Svjedok Pokojnih soon.

MOVIES OF THE WEEK

We haven't watched any movies, other than Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. So who was going to tell me that Russian Doll was Groundhog Day with mommy issues?
Background noise over the week was SpongeBob for some reason, which led me to listen to SpongeBob vibes music one day.
Also, why did sib, boyfriend and I get immersed into Sausage Party: Foodtopia, the series spinoff of the God forsaken Sausage Party movie? That was disturbing in more ways I could imagine. I guess it did an okay job portraying the complexities of capitalism, socialism and communism, but Jesus Christ, practically everything else was so horrible and barely funny. Leave this humor back in 2015 please.
