2-2-2025 MY WEEK: an intro

 Hello and welcome!

I spent most of the week dwelling on how, and where to start this blog idea, and whether I even should start this project, considering how we are all bloggers just by using social media.

I think I enjoy the idea of blogging as a way to develop a community via social media in a slower, less "ad-heavy" way, less influencing, and finally, one has to put more effort in writing and explaining the philosophy behind it. It's exciting. I've been at war against fast fashion, influencing, and now excessive AI use. But I've never been strong enough to delete my social media like Facebook and Instagram. Is it because of the feeling of FOMO? Is it egotistical, because I won't have an outlet to post some of my best looks or fun things, my personal aesthetic?

I listened to a podcast episode this week, by "Science Vs", titled Narcissist: Are We Surrounded?. It's a good reminder: maybe we're not narcissists, maybe social media simply makes us feel that way, and we want to be part of this virtual community.

In other news... This week felt warmer here in the Midwest suburbs, and by warmer, I mean it went from 20s to 40s in Fahrenheit. I have a few essentials to beat the cold: my Northface ushanka I got for Christmas, and moto boots I got at Charlotte Russe I purchased before my Thanksgiving NYC trip (my outfits NEEDED grunge, but also comfort). The ushanka saves my ears and shields my face so well. The boots are light and easy to slip on, while also keeping me from slipping on the ice. I usually opt for the classic Doc Martens, but I'm chronically late for work and I opt for less shoe lace tying then.

MY WEEKLY FITS
I track my outfits on the app Indyx. My username is @anapesut :)

MONDAY; for work I chose a sleeveless turtleneck from Target, my boyfriend's grandma's old crewneck sweater, and her old Levi's. Bundled up in sib's impulse buy Shein faux fur long jacket and previously mentioned ushanka. More essentials: the Charlotte Russe boots, my thrifted Longchamp Le Pliage large tote, and Forever 21 sunglasses.

MONDAY; boyfriend got some excellent tickets to watch the Cavs so I had an opportunity to dress up in the evening. Steve Madden sunnies (surprisingly sunny at 5 pm on our way downtown), thrifted Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress (I've been hunting for one for YEARS - this was my first time wearing it, I thrifted it in NYC on Black Friday), thrifted Calving Klein shoulder bag, ushanka and moto boot combo AGAIN, and one of the oldest, sturdiest items I still own, a puffer jacket with actual feathers in it, purchased when I started HS in C&A, in Croatia. Another savior for the siberian temps. BTW, the Cavs won!

TUESDAY for work I opted for more leopard print, with a Croft and Barrow simple cotton tee, paired with a denim maxi skirt I thrifted a while ago.
TUESDAY night we needed to go grocery shopping, so I paired an H&M neutral turtle neck, American Eagle baggy corduroys, and my Ugg slippers. What really popped off is this race car jacket boyfriend thrifted in Kent months ago that he keeps at my place (thank you). It's so cool, once it gets a bit warmer I hope to do more with it.

WEDNESDAY  for work I chose another thrifted maxi skirt, a whimsigoth t-shirt paired with a thrifted Vans flannel (coworkers liked how the colors were super matchy), and a lighter Converse puffer jacket. I often don't add the rings I wear throughout the day in the Indyx app, but you'll never NOT find me with my rings, my gold butterfly necklace, or my gold sea charms bracelet. Ok, the rings come off during yoga.
THURSDAY  at work I've been starting to really keep it casual. It felt like the longest dragging week ever. My Hard Rock Venice t shirt was paired with a pair of thrifted beige slacks, a secondhand Y2K jacket, a brown puffer jacket, and loafers from Target. The snow was melting, so I finally got a break from boots.
FRIDAY at work I kept up the casual look with a Shein t-shirt from my sib's reject pile, a New York and Co. cardigan I bought when I used to work there, my asphalt stained converse, and my heavy duty puffer.

SATURDAY morning sib and I joined my girlfriend at yoga for a morning power session. The top is from TjMaxx, leggings form Sams Club, and the hoodie was a friend's clothing brand, I took it from my boyfriend. The tote is one of my favorite's, it's the logo from my Mediterranean hometown's greatest underground rock festival - VLAJTERNATIVA.The tote was designed by local artists, and the organization Vlajter Ego promotes local up and coming bands and organizes rock concerts, art exhibits, and plays.

SUNDAY morning sib and I decided to get brunch at Panera, and go to the local meat market to replenish. You can't see the shirt, but it's a ribbed Zara sweater in dusty periwinkle, secondhand Who What Wear sweatpants, the Charlotte Russe boots, brown puffer (thank God because it started snowing mid brunch), ushanka and the Vlajternativa tote.

CRAFT PROJECTS OF THE WEEK

This week I haven't been crafting much, I finished a long project for a friend's birthday (which I cannot spoil yet, but I still have to laminate this project for it to be completed).
Boyfriend brought me an early Valentine's day gift, a Lego bouquet set. Last night I begun the project while watching Daisy Jones and the Six. Will post results once it's done!🌹

WHAT AM I LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEK?

Sib and I are going to a drag show downtown this upcoming weekend. I'm excited to do a fun look. I thrifted a NWT Altuzarra marine mini skirt last November. Never worn it yet. And I have a Windsor top that I've been thinking about, since I haven't worn it in a minute. So that's an option.
I also have an asymmetrical purple/black zebra print top which is super 80s, and I wore it once, two Christmases ago. I think the eccentric look would be perfect for a fun setting like this. I might pair this top with some super high heel ankle boots from Forever 21. The PVC material would match the vibe.

I hope the weather will stay less snowy and more sunny. It's still cold but more bearable then. I'm planning to take more power yoga and sculpt classes this week. Expect lots of sportswear.
