2-9-2025 MY WEEK: cultural mix, graphic tees, and more busy days

Don't mind me playing around with different fonts. By next month I'm sure something else will catch my mind.

Another week has gone by and I am ready to recap it for you.

My work week started off long and draining, and I was immediately exhausted. Luckily as the week went on, it got a bit better and the workload lighter. I really kept myself busy though, with fun activities like thrifting, karaoke, yoga, and a visit to the art museum. The highlight of the week was definitely attending the MIX party at the Museum of Art, themed España. We're trying to immerse ourselves in more local events involving art and culture this year. I've been scouring Facebook events to find some cool, unique events.

I want to spend money on events and experiences, like good food and music, sightseeing and exploring, and just being in new atmospheres. When I lived back in Croatia, our small town held frequent exhibits and plays open to the public, alongside many underground concerts throughout the year. My mom and I made it a tradition to go to most of these events. Even if it wasn't something in my interest, it was so cool to learn and discover something new, if nothing else, I got out of the house during the winter months. At one exhibit opening, I got lucky enough to win a painting during a raffle. It still hangs in my parent's living room.

Since moving back here, that tradition definitely simmered, maybe due to COVID, perhaps due to living in suburbia where everything feels stagnant, or because of the uptick in social media use which fuels only more FOMO, but takes away free time. Recently I decided to bring this tradition back and make it a Midwest version. And surprisingly there are many things to do (if not more than what I had available in the Mediterranean), only here I can expect to pay for them. Trust, I do not feel guilty spending money on these things. We rarely go out to eat, we do not have a shopping (or thrifting) addiction anymore, and we have a good budgeting and saving system to ensure bills are paid. So why not spend money on doing and experiencing? We see it constantly online, why not be a part of the community and feel it?

Sib and I went thrifting on Monday and we were on a denim hunt. Reconstructed jeans have been on my mind for a minute... I scored some dark Old Navy wide leg ones. They fit amazingly and I almost just want to keep them  as is. I'll get some wears in until sib gets ahold of her sewing machine.

Also, I got my nails done in a subtle Valentine theme. My previous set was an abstract/figurative mix of animal print, blobs and brushstrokes, and eye and eight balls. Now I opted for a simple red glazed french manicure.

The event of the week we were most looking forward to though, our Drag show, got canceled 😢 We are grateful to say the organizers were sweet and kind enough to let us reschedule for a later date with a VIP upgrade for free! And per last week's blog entry, I decided to opt for the purple zebra print top and those sky high boots. The other fit will be for one of my bestie's birthday next week!

Y'ALL READY FOR THE FITS OF THE WEEK?

Monday at work I tossed just whatever layers. It felt lovely as it was 51℉. Thrifted leather jacket, mint work pants, and layers of a white t shirt and button down. My target loafers.

Monday night for running errands and a quick thrift trip I borrowed sib's sweater, some granny pants (don't judge), uggs and the same leather jacket from earlier.

Tuesday for work I had a chance to wear the jeans (I always make sure to wash the thrift finds before wearing them) with a leopard print blouse, H&M blazer, and Steve Madden oxford shoes. It didn't stay warm for long so I needed a puffer jacket.

🠄Wednesday at work I mixed business and casual (I guess) - or as sib describes it, mustard at work. Forever 21 sweater and jumpsuit, converse and my usual staples.

Wednesday night sib, work besties and I met up at a local dive bar where they do karaoke for the individuals I work with. I went super graphic and super causal (very 00s with the long sleeve top layered under the graphic tee). 🠆

🠄Thursday at work I continued the t shirt and jeans, now paired with my fave cardigan from Forever 21 I got years ago. T shirt is vintage Armani and the jeans are sib's thrifted find from the other day. Vintage Gloria Vanderbilt.

Thursday night finally went to yoga. Unintentionally matched the cardigan and fit with my tote.🠆

🠄Friday at work I totally went graphic again with a full on suit piece (mom's vintage set). I love pairing my suits with unpredictable pieces like converse or graphic tees, or in the case, both.

Friday at the museum I took some inspo from the theme with the maxi skirt. Paired it with this thrifted top (it needs some adjusting, my sleeve kept falling down throughout the night and it genuinely pissed me off). Accessorized with a beret, crocodile-esque boots from Express, some jewelry (including Frida Kahlo earrings which is not Spanish but Hispanic). Added this baby pink bag for extra color. 🠆

WHAT AM I LOOKING FORWARD THIS WEEK?

Tonight we're going to a Superbowl house party. I do not care about football, but I love any chance to dress up, socialize, and snack on some buffalo dip and sip on hard cider.
Tuesday night my friend Morgan, sib and I are going to try out Hotworx and their core exercise. The sauna sounds amazing. We're on a serious mission of getting super fit for summer (balance is necessary, Superbowl Sunday spent with beers and greasy food, then a Tuesday expected to kick ass - "You know, I use organic products, but I get [laser treatments]. It's what makes life interesting, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu." This Gwyneth Paltrow quote is my life mantra).
Valentine's day is coming up too so I am super excited for date night. I need to do research on which shoes will work best with the dress I plan to wear. It's a blue velvet long sleeve dress. That's this week's homework. We're going downtown to watch a candelight orchestra, and grab a snack at a bar probably afterwards.
Speaking of Valentine's, I've been personally victimized by this lego set I've been working on. I completed the vase part, but the flowers absolutely text my patience. This project is on pause until I gain enough patience to deal with it.
One of my bestie's Vic is celebrating her birthday this weekend and I'm so excited to see her and celebrate her. Remember the Windsor top and Altuzarra skirt? I'm pairing that with my red flats bought this summer in Croatia and a thrifted red baguette bag.

    Until next time, XOXO💗
