2-9-2025 MY WEEK: cultural mix, graphic tees, and more busy days
Don't mind me playing around with different fonts. By next month I'm sure something else will catch my mind.
Another week has gone by and I am ready to recap it for you.
My work week started off long and draining, and I was immediately exhausted. Luckily as the week went on, it got a bit better and the workload lighter. I really kept myself busy though, with fun activities like thrifting, karaoke, yoga, and a visit to the art museum. The highlight of the week was definitely attending the MIX party at the Museum of Art, themed España. We're trying to immerse ourselves in more local events involving art and culture this year. I've been scouring Facebook events to find some cool, unique events.
I want to spend money on events and experiences, like good food and music, sightseeing and exploring, and just being in new atmospheres. When I lived back in Croatia, our small town held frequent exhibits and plays open to the public, alongside many underground concerts throughout the year. My mom and I made it a tradition to go to most of these events. Even if it wasn't something in my interest, it was so cool to learn and discover something new, if nothing else, I got out of the house during the winter months. At one exhibit opening, I got lucky enough to win a painting during a raffle. It still hangs in my parent's living room.
Since moving back here, that tradition definitely simmered, maybe due to COVID, perhaps due to living in suburbia where everything feels stagnant, or because of the uptick in social media use which fuels only more FOMO, but takes away free time. Recently I decided to bring this tradition back and make it a Midwest version. And surprisingly there are many things to do (if not more than what I had available in the Mediterranean), only here I can expect to pay for them. Trust, I do not feel guilty spending money on these things. We rarely go out to eat, we do not have a shopping (or thrifting) addiction anymore, and we have a good budgeting and saving system to ensure bills are paid. So why not spend money on doing and experiencing? We see it constantly online, why not be a part of the community and feel it?

Sib and I went thrifting on Monday and we were on a denim hunt. Reconstructed jeans have been on my mind for a minute... I scored some dark Old Navy wide leg ones. They fit amazingly and I almost just want to keep them as is. I'll get some wears in until sib gets ahold of her sewing machine.
Also, I got my nails done in a subtle Valentine theme. My previous set was an abstract/figurative mix of animal print, blobs and brushstrokes, and eye and eight balls. Now I opted for a simple red glazed french manicure.
The event of the week we were most looking forward to though, our Drag show, got canceled 😢 We are grateful to say the organizers were sweet and kind enough to let us reschedule for a later date with a VIP upgrade for free! And per last week's blog entry, I decided to opt for the purple zebra print top and those sky high boots. The other fit will be for one of my bestie's birthday next week!new nail set
Y'ALL READY FOR THE FITS OF THE WEEK?
Monday at work I tossed just whatever layers. It felt lovely as it was 51℉. Thrifted leather jacket, mint work pants, and layers of a white t shirt and button down. My target loafers.
