happy national bestie nicole week!  1/3 eldest daughter committee of the friend group, with a contagious fomo, and wonderful extrovert to be around (until you cross her, but then that's your fault). our reliable group chat reporter on pop culture (and everything else). when she texts "GUYS" with no follow-up for about 5 minutes, just know you will be enlightened shortly. covid-era conference calls on linkedin bestie nicole and i have a karmic connection where if we speak of an important person they may die. we talked shit about virgil abloh for weeks - then he died from a private battle of cancer. just recently, we were talking about pope francis - and then hung out shortly after he died, kind of baffled at the coincidence. i am eternally grateful for bestie nicole. i wanted to pay homage to this girl, my fellow fashionista, who is out and about conquering daily fashion marketing emails, and snagging the best socks and samples for our collections. my favorite though, is w...

1-18-2026 MY WEEK: spotted - the color rhythm

are you feeling the twitch of cabin fever? the weeks are looking dull, and i am trying to keep busy with reading and watching movies in the afternoon. we got snowed in on thursday - like i got to work from home! i used the opportunity to get my nails done (as promised) in between supervisions and paperwork.  since it's been months since i did my nails, i wanted a simpler design but still maximalist. had my nails shorter. i was a bit rusty, but overall, very satisfied with the outcome! and i really thought i wasn't going to fall victim of the polka dot trend. you guys can see that sib and i have been using out indoor time to experiment on makeup, we also resorted to trying hairstyles. i bought french pins a year or two ago - for when i finally do my breakfast at tiffany's costume. and i also find it so chic! * i am so going to go off tangent for a minute: i know i said chic  was a word that was out for me in 2026, but my spirit guide sib enlightened me: why can't everyth...

books of the week i continue my belle du seigneur journey.  here's my commentary on the male characters that are part of the league of nations  (predecessor of today's united nations ): the incompetence of these men, who hold the question of diplomatic recognition, the final say in potential genocide, rights and fights for countries in need, is evident by how the questions are described with carelessness and considered an annoying chore. these important questions and tasks that could impact a whole nation's global recognition end up being forgotten by these sloths of high society. they're rich white dudes who could care less, because it's their own little circle of pathetic "society", their own "creme de la creme" that matters most to them. look at the un today: the legacy of the league of nations. let's put aside the fictional characters and their "quirks", what are these men doing regarding the questions of genocide and national...

the cleveland art scene when sib and i were watching the marc jacobs and louis vuitton  documentary, she exclaimed "that's the cleveland clinic pumpkin" when the camera panned over yayoi kusama's pumpkin. i was confused. then sib explained - the major hospital does in fact have the 2014 pumpkin in the main campus' display and sent me the website of the hospital's artwork. and i remembered when we visited a relative there years ago - there was art in many corners.  i thought that was such a cool concept - art is present in all our eras in life. we celebrate through art: little kids birthed in the hospital connect with crayons and messy paint. so many people in recovery from illness - unable to work - develop the time to heal through art. in my work i use art a lot as a coping skill. when struggling with grief, many people resort to creating and consuming art as a way to express how we feel, beyond words.  here's what the clinic states about the art there:...
