6-22-2025 MY INSPO: announcement; the bralettes are returning

Image
i am on a dedicated search for the comfy simple wedge sandal with a small heel. the ones i currently own have their leather falling off. not a good look on bare feet, fashion friends. i searched the mall, only to find some satisfactory zara ones at $80. i couldn't bring myself to do it. $80 for sweatshop shoes? my next step is a deep dive into therealreal. call my hypocritical but i won't mind paying $80 for a designer brand or something more ethical. i was a bit luckier on ebay too, but i am also considering checking out my local cobbler? i'm unsure if this is fixable, but that's my first choice before spending on another pair. if my cobbler says my wedges are doomed, here are some choices i saved online:

6-15-2025 MY WEEK: the death of the corn dog

Image
i love the busy-ness of summer, but i'm struggling to find time to type up my blogs, so forgive me for the late posts. between local festivals, days spent at the pool, and our annual community garage sale, i was just everywhere this week. on top of that, i still find myself doomscrolling and keeping myself up-to-date with everything going on in the world.  i guess that there is still an invincible magic of summer. among all the protests, news of injustice inflicted on people left and right, and just hopeless news online, i found myself blasting summer hits last wednesday morning. always 15 minutes late to my job that is so close i could walk to it, i had the window down, and the sun was beating in spite of the canadian wild fires creating a movie-like haze. the song   music sounds better with you  was playing, my summer fave. i waved at a neighbor walking her dog, and i passed a girl wearing heart-shaped sunglasses, walking and clearly enjoying her music in he...

music of the week in honor of juneteenth coming up, here are 5 recent faves by black artists: every girl (wants my guy) - aretha franklin vous etes seuls, mais je desire etre avec vous - nina simone you go to my head (henry green remix) - billie holiday that beat - quavius family affair - sly & the family stone (rest in peace!) music apps really seem to be some of my faves. beside airbuds, radiooooo and my classic spotify (over)use, might i suggest a new app on my radar? this app is called poolsuite   fm  - an aesthetically pleasing music app playing mostly beachy house music fit for various summer moments, categorized in "channels" such as balearic sundown , friday night heat , hangover club , and more. you can also listen to curated mixtapes by dj's from all over the world. finally the app itself channels  retro vibes, with options of visuals from the 80s vhs tapes reminiscing of baywatch . guess what i'm going to be listening to during pool days paired with ...

6-15-2025 MY INSPO: in honor of juneteenth

Image
this upcoming week we're celebrating juneteenth - and in this political climate, we have to remember the fight for our rights - ending slavery, civil rights, women's rights, and how they didn't come peacefully. they sure as hell weren't achieved by an insta "informative" aesthetic posts. nevertheless, i struggle to stay silent. i was woke before we even had that label. insufferable? probably? but i stay true to myself.  with all this being said, even though i dog on posts like "hello kitty says to abolish ice" in pink bubbly fonts, here i am, on my little fashionista blog - and i want to share 6 black icons of this day and age in honor of juneteenth. we cannot deny the rock star status of the talented tina turner . her bob mackie looks, as presented here, are just as iconic as cher. tina's bravery to escape domestic violence is inspiring, and her songs are my childhood faves.  rock star number 2? the androgynous and mysterious grace jones  who ...

6-8-2025 MY WEEK: it's summer, i got my hat on backwards and it's time to fucking party!

i can finally say we've been blessed with summer time starting this week, and already my social life is blossoming like our new hibiscus we got!🌺 my weekend kind of started on thursday when bestie viki invited us to ohio city and we discovered 16-bit, an arcade/bar. boyfriend chose some pride friendly cocktails, the group played cornhole, and i discovered a talent for pinball.  boyfriend's hulk hogan  cocktail. included a whole popsicle friday i celebrated my work bestie's birthday, and i discovered a new dive bar - lino's  - and it is perhaps one of the better one's i've been to as of late. saturday we celebrated my cousin's graduation. and i cannot believe i almost forgot to mention our neighborhood pool finally opened so i've been enjoying refreshing moscow mules in the sun and tanning - unsuccessfully. this weekend and the summer vibes prompted me to share with you all my cocktails of the week, because i cannot call myself an alcoholic - i am simply...

6-8-2025 MY FAVES: a pop girl summer renaissance

Image
books of the week i'm slowly on the last 200 pages of great tales of horror  by h.p. lovecraft . and still, the stories are haunting but the racism is much scarier. i can't even mention what the cat's name is in his story the rats in the walls .  music of the week it's already an exciting month for the pop girlies' highly anticipated albums, and there's more coming our way. this week marina and the diamonds  and addison rae  released their albums: princess of power  and addison , respectively.  i've loved marina since her electra heart era, and i was looking forward to this album because i really loved the single cuntissimo. besides this one, here's songs i really liked from this album:  princess of power, je ne sais quoi, i <3 you,  and final boss . i have a love-hate relationship with addison rae and whether she is "performative" and her vibe is true to her spirit (how chronically online is this sentence even?). i never cared for her t...

6-8-2025 MY INSPO: pride, the icons

Image
happy pride  to all those who celebrate, this week i have been tapping into the influence of the lgbtqa+ community, their impact in fashion, music, and art.  i had a shower thought months ago, thinking about the incredible impact the queer community has just on fashion: your biggest names, the household luxury brands, and their strongest eras led by mostly gay men: lee mcqueen, thierry mugler, jacquemus, gianni versace, karl lagerfeld, dolce & gabbana -  just to name a few.  these men have dressed and loved women in a way that romanticized women and celebrated them better than straight men period.  do the homophones think of this when they search desperately for dupes online? if it wasn't for the artistry of these geniuses how would our local homophobes flaunt with their dupes?
