2-15-2026 MY FAVES: immigration nation
i'm listening to...
bad bunny and his superbowl performance have been on my repeat this week. i even shed a tear toward the end of his performance. not latina at all, don't know a lick of spanish, yet everything was understood.
here's top 10 current fave love songs to keep the valentine's vibes going. they're fun and funky, not too lovey dovey, more like the excitement when you're in a crush and everything is just so fresh and exciting. love is in the air, and it lingers!

zauvijek tvoj - jacques houdek

i'm watching...
the olympics were on while we were on our ski trip, and this week i've been watching recaps of various sports that made internet spotlights. who knew curling could be so intense?!
sib thought van helsing "would be a cute period piece" but was proven wrong while watching hugh jackman slay mythical characters. i actually enjoyed the set and costumes a lot. the plot was weird, why did kate beckinsale's character have more chemistry with the brother than hugh jackman?!
for our valentine's party at work, we watched the animated version of beauty and the beast which is one of my fave disney princess movies.
i'm reading...
i started reading the book called from the adriatic to lake erie: a history of croatians in greater cleveland. with the constant concerns and worrisome news online, like the heartbreaking news from minneapolis, or even the controversies and judgment following bad bunny's superbowl performance. immigration is a frequent topic on my mind, as well as among my social circles. i, like many of my closest friends and even acquaintances are direct descendants of immigrants. it felt important to read a book about the history of immigration of my own people, of people i see frequently, the cleveland croatian society. this book wonderfully and earnestly documents the struggle of the eternal search for the american dream throughout generations. we need to remember that we all come from the same struggle. perhaps some are 2nd-3rd gen, but we hold the ancestry proudly. to me, seeing the latino community celebrate this week made me feel proud, and reminiscent of my own culture. it wasn't a divide - it was unity. and united we stand, don't we?
