happy new year to all my friends and readers ☺ i'm anticipating making mistakeswhile writing for the next 3 weeks, but excited for the new opportunities in the new year. sure, we can say the new year is a silly man-made concept, and that resolutions are usually unsuccessful. and even though it would make sense to celebrate in the spring (you know, rebirth of nature etc), there's something exciting during this depressing shit weather to dress up and celebrate away! this year i'm all about looking at the bright side. complete jester-like positivity.

even though the weather was atrocious for nye, and i was still recovering from a cold, my friends and i still dressed in our best, and danced the night away

this week's looks
orange seemed to be my new black. i kind of did a dress up challenge of checking some items that have been styled on indyx but haven't been worn that way. a new year cleansing if you will. i came up with interesting combinations, as some had to be adjusted for weather purposes.
monday was inspired by a melani safari mix for work. rachel zoe flared pants, colorful pleated blouse with bell sleeves. shades of brown with coat and scarf
tuesday's inspo was brought by an old nyc trip reject - inspired by samantha jones lugging her suitcases, i lugged my tweed crossbody and laptop bag across worksites. a combination that is very risqué, i'm glad i tried it out! pink and orange was a 2000s staple. many of my dolls and journals had this color scheme.
wednesday another melani safari fit, adjusted for frigid temps. had to work on nye - which was bullshit both because it is basically a holiday, and the weather was terrible. camel ribbed top, vintage talbots floral skirt, ralph lauren houndstooth shoulder purse, northface ushanka
new years fit: vintage gown from our mom, leather coat and manolo kitten heels, alongside vintage gloves and purse. no time for an updo so claw clip came in clutch. no stole (spoiler) - due to extreme snow and low temps.

new year day - relaxing hangout day with boyfriend's family to celebrate his dad's b day: yellow dior sweater, american eagle distressed jeans and moto boots. comfy fit for slight hangover and good food.
friday back to work, wearing the 'i told ya' tee. simple fit for a cpr renewal day, with layers to ward off the cold.
saturday's errands and a very nonchalant kind of look. a mandatory beanie for bed head, comfy oversized sweatshirt and cargo pants.
what am i looking forward to this week?
holidays are over, back to work reality and full-time days. hangout guaranteed with bestie victoria this weekend, as she is traveling to wisconsin soon. sib and i need to sit down and book our tickets for 2026 travel days.
