another week of coffee dates, shopping, and enjoying the seaside, local cats, and countryside drives. the amount of secondhand smoke in the cafés gives me the same rush as if i'm still smoking cigarettes.
we took mom on a date to zadar, for some shopping and sightseeing. it was a fun day, a full itinerary - shopping at one mall, coffee break, a walk down the riviera, chestnuts as a snack, another mall, then kfc takeout (per dad's request).
our mom also wanted to treat us with a shopping haul for our birthday, and i wanted to stop at the store borovo - a croatian shoe store. they have startas sneakers, think something between keds and sambas. borovo carries other beautiful shoes (flats, boots, etc), but i had my eye on some startas shoes. when i was in middle school, my mom bought me a pair with a marine pattern (blue and white stripes). i wasn't sure if i wanted a crazy pattern this time, but sib encouraged me to choose a more subtle shoe to style with more items. here's the ones i chose:

i also bought the october issue of vogue adria and ok je ok! the teen magazine sib and i used to buy religiously. it's for research, so you'll hear more about it in the following weeksboyfriend and i also went to a local gig and i obviously got two new band tees: melewai and lhd bands! |

this week's looks
i'm testing my croatian closet limits this week, using merazine's "style battle" feature, where you are given one garment and you style your avatar and vote "who wore it better". first, this would be a challenge no matter where, because the garments might be so abstract, i can only use similar items from the closet (croset in this case) - in color, material or perhaps shape. i need to be aware of the weird rainy weather and potential travels too - to other parks, the village, or downtown - and have to be flexible and yet daring.
monday i was "assigned" this vintage skateboard club sweatshirt. when styling my avatar, i had in mind sib's vintage gap sweatshirt, in oatmeal color. my mom diy-ed these jeans as they had a bleach spill, and she added more spills. added zara jacket, and ugg slippers, but added some details in black: knit beanie, new york and co leather bag, and black belt.
tuesday for our morning coffee date with dad i had to style a pair of ripped jeans. i found these highly distressed terra nova pair (perhaps sib's old pair?), and styled with a v neck mustard tee from mango, the red leather bomber jacket, my old vans sneakers (pink, orange, yellow splatter design), and a tote bag with colorful polka dots and wooden handle.
wednesday i forgot to screenshot the item from the style battle, but it was a longer black dress. i don't have a longer one here, so i wore the oleg cassini velvet a-line dress i recently thrifted back in ohio, styled with h&m trench coat, prada reworked pearl necklace, a long necklace from my teenage days (super quirky - a metal and knit charm that looks like a girl), black tights and mom's brown tall boots. and kate spade bag. wednesday night we got drinks with cousin and i wore this converse tee (per style battle), skinny jeans, startas sneakers, new york and co purse and sib's new leather jacket.
thursday for coffee i didn't do the challenge. i almost slept in so i had to scramble with the first thing in my croset. this olive color maxi dress, v neck but i wore it backwards so i had a more covered neckline. floral tights my sister kept here, and brown belt to add dimension. bomber jacket and startas for a more casual look.
redemption thursday afternoon for our walk around the forest - got assigned black simple tee, and went with my diesel top, borrowed sib's adidas baggy sweatpants, and her h&m sneakers, as well as mom's tote bag.
thursday night visited family friends and just swapped the sweatpants for these skinny cargo pants, and ugg slippers. we had the daylight savings last week, so even 6:30 pm is bed time.
friday - aka halloween - no costumes. croatia doesn't celebrate halloween, so my fit was extremely basic. a great choice for capris since it's super nice weather today. paired with my new asymmetrical sweater. startas shoes, new york and co bag, and sunnies from urban outfitters.
saturday i was recovering from a heavy hangover, but i wore the blue jacket look with uggs for the airport as sib is going back to the usa. later in the evening i wore walking shoes and red jacket for evening walk by the beach.
sunday for our morning coffee i went back to the style battle - final efforts. styled a dark brown skater skirt with a tan turtle neck. black tights ( a foggy morning), chrome loafers and trench coat.
sunday night for church i was assigned these cargo pants - i have a zara black pair, styled with a 3/4 sweater and red bomber jacket and my new startas shoes.
what am i looking forward to next week?
my "vacation" in hometown is slowly coming to an end, as i leave on saturday. i'll make sure to get last minute shopping and sightseeing in, as well as just lazying out with parents - it's nice to be a kid again for a bit. i can't wait to see sib soon though!
