 it's boyfriend's birthday week, and i wanted to share some of that love here on the blog. boyfriend has incredibly eclectic taste, opinions, and often lifestyle. his eye for the aesthetics and antiques are niche, and we often joke that between my collectibles and his own - we could easily create a museum or antique store. 

to honor this dude i asked him some questions on fashion and style - here's what buddy had to say:

what’s the first thing you think about when you wake up?

first thing i think of when i wake up is if i am late to work or not. is it a work day or not? what else do i have to do today?

what is the item from where you start building outfits?

item that started building outfits was gap from jcpennys, matching turtle necks and long sleeves with the pants/ jeans

when do you plan your outfits?

⁠i plan outfits on situations and feelings, if it’s a relaxed situation and not at work or wedding it will be comfortable non business casual

but for weddings it will be much more strict and for work it’s not as relaxed but not strict either

what’s never enough in your wardrobe ?

gold. is never enough in fashion. can always be worn on any body part and holds its value

plus it has many different designs and shapes

what do you enjoy purchasing vintage or second hand?

70% jewelry, 30% clothes

what would you never wear?

i would never wear a full country cowboy style, honestly to me a lot of the southern people that dress like that are cringe to me, almost like a cult everyone looks the same and dressed the same

what would you call your style in 3 words?

in 3 words i call my fashion “fast, easy, comfy”

what do you think others notice on you first?

i believe others see my fashion as unique and suiting, i like to wear stuff that appeals to me and my eyes, a lot is old vintage / dark clothing so people may think more emo goth at first

what character do you evoke with your fits?

the character i try to evoke is adam sandler, although not a big fan of his movies, his laid back sense of style is what i admire the most

who is the most stylish person of all time?

⁠pharrell is the male icon most would say is the best, as for female i will say my girlfriend

trust - he answered that last one on his own!

when we first started dating, i rarely seen him wear jeans. so i love when he is wearing them. boyfriend loves accessories: scarves and hats in particular. on occasion he will add a pair of sunnies, and he always has some kind of jewelry: a simple gold chain with some antique charms or his nautical cord bracelet my uncle gave him when he first visited homeland.

i'd love to completely go through his closet, and become a full time stylist for boyfriend. instead, i make sure every birthday or christmas gift he gets a new piece of unique clothing or staple fashion items.

here's some of my fave fits boyfriend pulled this year so far:

may's mix. a short button down and jeans with his polo shoes. this guy could easily be a walking polo ad. 

here's boyfriend in niagara falls with my man nikola tesla. here boyfriend is wearing a croatia fisherman hat, a cleveland cavaliers t shirt and some joggers. and i believe - my tote bag?

the dude will also always represent the land - here's a bird's view of a one-of-a-kind headpiece, wears just as much jewelry as me, and an all-black outfit (can you peep the tiny polo) - is this the emo look boyfriend is referring to? a preppy one at that. side note - boyfriend's necklace collection is a very interesting one: if you see him on a night out, he may wear one of his many glass pendants: from a sexualized carrot, to a giant waffle dripping in maple syrup.

our day trip in columbus. another all-black fit, less preppy, more adam sandler. 

new years 2025: his trusty versace tie was off at this point. could this be a look of a man exhausted chasing his girlfriend who kept stealing champagne bottles? a simple, sleek look. effortlessly done.

sib's birthday. khakis paired with a coach logo hoodie. our wishlists often exceed our budgets. 

october mix: he didn't know the theme was la fiesta, otherwise we would've spiced up this look cashmere sweater (gifted by your's truly), necklace and jeans.

yugo vinyl night: a puffer jacket a la varsity style, with some classic blue jeans.  americana meets balkanija?!

april mix: an obey tee with logo a graphics on back, jeans and black sneakers. white tee and jeans combo is truly just such an iconic combination. 

finally, we played dress up in my room, and i made him wear my ray bans. his future brother in law gifted him some secondhand preppier pieces, so boyfriend's suave looks are becoming chicer by the day...
