8-24-2025 MY WEEK: is she a rainbow, or does she paint it, black?

the start of the school year literally wiped away the heat of summer, so suddenly. summer arrives loudly, brightly and feels obnoxious sometimes. but it leaves and never gives you notice. truthfully, we still have a whole month of technical summer time, but this week i admit i'm liking the feeling of fall.

fall is my favorite season, but i feel so guilty at the beginning of it (or at the end of summer), because here in ohio we only get a sliver of true summer. or perhaps i was spoiled by my youth in dalmatia, where we had mostly summer and painful heat.

boyfriend let me borrow his macbook, so it's been a bit easier instead of bouncing between library work hours, my own schedule, and sib's laptop with no storage. thank you boyfriend!

on monday i dyed my hair back to copper, and had a proper therapy sesh with bestie morg, my hair stylist and wonderful friend. did i accidentally dye away the last blonde remnants of summer as well? oops.

friday i had an end of summer team meeting for work, that required me to be in columbus. i asked boyfriend would he love to spend the afternoon out there for a day-trip. it was a great way to end the gloomy week with some sunshine and leftover summer vibes.

he spent his morning, while i was in the office, near the pond feeding crows, and went to a coffee shop called fox in the snow, where he claims he had the best matcha and pastry. he practiced his croatian, and walked around the local mall. i was envious, but got redemption afterwards. we stopped at clintonville, a suburb (i believe) of columbus, and i entered vintage mall heaven.

first we stopped at eclectiques antique mall, which came as a suggestion last week while scrolling on tiktok. boyfriend almost bought some overalls, and was positively overwhelmed by the amount of mens clothes. i was on a hunt for sib's birthday gift (her birthday is in 2 weeks guys!). i almost purchased a perfect gift, surprised a the price of it (can't spoil, she reads my blog), but upon further research, i discovered why it was priced so cheap. i passed. so did boyfriend on the overalls. but the mall had plenty of hidden gems. i found a cavalli dress but not the right size.

then we went to the atomic shop, owned by a sweet girl, and in her shop i found one of sib's birthday gift.

next to the atomic shop is boomerang vintage, styled as if it was a room from the jetson's. super groovy songs playing, an eclectic assortment of vintage books (think sci-fi from the mid-century), and shades of orange, brown and blue everywhere.

bought myself a vintage sterling ring from boomerang vintage
finally, we stopped at the brass hand, a vintage, plants and local based store. the incense clears your mind and nostrils, and there's a section where you can pot and decorate your own cactus plant. an amazing spot for a date, birthday fun, and just overall friend activity.

on saturday boyfriend and i had a scheduled cooking class date at sur la table where we made a summer thai meal, peanut marinaded chicken satay, brown sugar glazed salmon, jasmine rice, green mango and cucumber salad, and for desert coconut lime sorbet.

to wrap up the week, sib and i had the opportunity to visit the one world day festival and parade at our cultural gardens. we got stamps from various countries, met enthusiastic patriots of different nationalities, and learned many fun facts from across the world. we had indian samosas and palestinian fattoush. our neighbors from serbia were playing only croatian music, but we raised no hostility by making jokes about it. we discovered the carpatho rusyn nation, and the gentleman  representing explained that andy warhol was carpatho-rusyn!?

looks of the week

last week there was more neon than perhaps ever, but this week, mostly following the dark skies, i swap one rolling stones song for another: she's a rainbow, or paint it black - what is it, mick?

monday for work i wore an all-black look, with visible gold and gunmetal hardware. top borrowed by sib with gold decoration, pants vintage halston - on the back of the ankles, gunmetal zippers. jewelry and sib's versace sunnies with gold hardware to match.
went incredibly simple to my hair appointment, perhaps not even worth the mention (or maybe it's giving kennedy or princess diana in leisurewear???). zara distressed tee, navy shorts, skechers and uniqlo tote.

tuesday i may have not coordinated the fits well enough. your thoughts? i wore a hard rock cafe cleveland top with a bunch of paint splatter colors, dark purple pants, and my new puma shoes. coworker thought the shoes don't match the fit. i thought the shirt and shoes sandwiched the pants great.
for groceries you could say this one was a flop. this is when i call myself out: even when running errands, my fit needs to be better!? it was a bluesday.

wednesday for work i wore a tibi top and h&m skinny slacks. not pictured were white loafers. tortoise shell sunnies that were pretty unnecessary due to the gloominess. only other color was my tan work tote.

thursday for work - grey turtleneck top from h&m, slacks from target, and loafers with a small heel - 90s style.
for a late night dinner run  to the local chinese restaurant, and walk after, i wore an anthony bourdain tee, and ripped bellbottoms. shoes were skechers, and i had a tan cardigan too since it was a bit cooler in the evening.
friday for work and columbus trip i wore a knit cream sleeveless top, plaid skinny slacks, and converse. had my uniqlo tote bag, hair clipped up, and tortoise shell sunglasses

saturday for boyfriend's and mine cooking class date, i wore a white polo top, ripped bellbottoms, and my skechers and accessories.
sib and i went on a park walk and i kept the polo top (felt sporty enough), and wore biker shorts.

i end the week in a more rainbow tone. for church i wore a grey ralph lauren knit top, pale pink knit skirt, and gianni bini scrappy heels, with various shades of pink. not pictured is sib's two toned pink coach bag.
for the one world day festival at the rockefeller gardens, i wore a white bodysuit tank, sib's short sleeved blouse, black armani jeans, pumas and coach bag. and yellow bandana.

what am i looking forward to this week?

☁ it's the last week of august, and i am looking forward to a baseball game tuesday and pre-labor day fun. the weather is supposed to be cooler this week again, with scattered rain. perhaps i'll hit some yoga classes and another dance class again...
