7-13-2025 MY WEEK: in the bleak midsummer

we're halfway through the summer season. it could be just a week where i was struggling with recovering from a massive hangover, and the fact sib and i had to go to a family friend's wake, but my outfits seemed pretty bleak? going to yoga with bestie victoria, and meeting up with an old friend from my community college days, and spending 5 hours at the coffee shop catching up (we haven't seen each other in 5 years), helped boost back my joie de vivre. and, of course a post-wake thrift run to find something denim/overall for my upcoming vermont trip (the looks are pending, keep an eye out in a couple weeks for a report on that!).

a "vintage" gap denim dress, perfectly fitted and just the pefrect denim feel. i had something of the sorts when i was a kid, and y'all know me too well - anything nostalgic for the child within me. she's so spoiled.

sib, though, was immensely lucky in the shoe aisle, where she go two glamourous pairs - in brand new conditions. lacquered red flats (she succumbed to the return of the flat!), and leopard print stilettos. makes you want to sing... g-l-a-m...o-r-o-u-s...

looks of the week

this week only a bella swan debutante could envy the maxi skirts and bland tones i wore. could it be the influence of the current book i'm reading, midnight sun? only a pop of rock and band tees, graphic totes, and a couple crop tops came in rescue from being asked to join a pentecostal prayer party.

monday for work i wore a look completely fitting for a bella swan moodboard. whimsigoth t shirt and long denim skirt. broken up with zara sandals, work bag and tortoise shell sunglasses. for library and blogging, i just switched to my asymmetrical sunglasses, birkenstocks and tote bag from croatian hometown.
tuesday i wore a sweater top and tan slacks and my flats for work. i had to do my first car service so i had time to change, black airy maxi skirt, hard rock venice t shirt, and same shoes and the hometown tote.

wednesday for work i wore linen-esque sweatpants from forever 21 and a t shirt from the niall horan concert i went to last year. not pictured were birkenstocks. i taught about the mental health benefits of practicing yoga, and i needed to wear a fit appropriate for stretching and movement.
for our weekly ice cream run, i wore tan legging shorts and a rolling stone baby tee, with birkenstocks and my weekly tote.

thursday i had a day-to-night moment (but not really in the typical sense). i had a long day at work but needed to wear subdued colors because i had to go to the wake immediately after. black and purple top with dark grey pinstripe slacks. not pictured are the loafer slides and i only switched out my longchamp work tote for a smaller leather black crossbody.
friday for work i wore a bright yellow orville peck concert tee (also from last year's concert), american eagle jeans and not pictured, black loafer slides. for yoga i wore a simple black ensemble. black biker shorts and yoga top.

saturday morning for my coffee date with friend i wore a sage green aerie crop top, express baggy jean shorts, and my vlajternativa tote and oxfords.
for an evening walk i wore a blue yoga top and another pair of black biker shorts.
sunday for library and blogging i wore another crop top, from forever 21 and diane von furstenburg slacks, and a rare moment for my havaianas flip flops. had to be a bit funky, a bit carolyn bessette kennedy? i'm just saying too much now.

what am i looking forward to this week?

other than more yoga and occasional pool moments (weather permitting), sib and i have a wedding to go to, so my outfit idea is brewing. a recently thrifted maxi dress with some simple black heels, a clutch bag and perhaps high pony tail - 60s style? will be experimenting options. going for a midcentury modern look.
also, i don't care about superhero movies, but the new superman is getting phenomenal reviews online, so i will be checking the local drive in movie. a real retro date is what i'm in the mood for.
