happy monday to all, and happy end of june! time flies when you're having fun. this summer may not be spent on the adriatic coast, but lazy pool weekdays, arcade birthdays, and baseball debacles sure make the midwest feel like vacation even without pto.
here's a quick cocktail list of last week:
made myself a blended pineapple margarita with leftover ripe pineapples. wow, this is perhaps the best cocktail i've made so far. i bought tajin and chamoy a few days later because there's going to be more experimenting.
hazed and confused from 16-bit: gin, lavender, basil and lemon. thank you bestie vicki s for this recommendation.
finally, a blue hawaiian slushie at the guardians baseball game to quench the heat from our fancy club seats. thank you to my work friend for taking me with. the mediocre buffet was a great cure for hangover and great start of another drinking day.

no imperfections in this buttery color of blended pineapple. picture doesn't do justice, you would need to savor this flavor. |
my days are blending into a blinding pool mosaic, and a therapeutic way to end a work day is hitting the late afternoons by our neighborhood pool. we let a semi-bitten pool noodle choose us, then we lazily lay and let the pool "current" take us. during breaks, we take half naps, chat with our friends about neighborhood gossip (god knows hoa's have a ton of that), then read a bit. and then back to "swimming". i've been doing extra conditioning and hair care because my already colored hair is already going through much labor between chlorine and intense uv.
i went to two baseball games this week - a minor league again with work and clients, then our guardians on sunday, courtesy of the company, and my work friend who invited me to tag along. both endured in midday heat, but you know what - i feel the most patriotic when take me out to the ball game starts. and it will sometimes make me cry.
we went to a couple farmer's markets, as well as our go-to thrift stores: got lucky with some thrift finds this week: a cd rack, led zeppelin t shirt for the pool, and a perfect day to hit my fave consignment store elite repeats that had a 50% off deal that day, and resulted with amazing summertime finds:
two mini purses with beautiful beach prints - i bought for sib and i to be the beachiest sib's out there.
a multicolor maxi dress with an optional tie.
as for the farmer's market find, all i can say is: sib is starting to grow oyster mushrooms at home.
finally, we celebrated our youngest remaining 6 member's birthday: bestie viki. at 16-bit, we got hazed and confused, had an abundance of jell-o shots, played a budweiser game, and some guy named steven beat everyone in mechanical pins?!looks of the week
most of my by-the-pool fits would look like a walking red flag on a man - is this the official la piscine look? i've got a lot of fit changes - how could one not? so many places to be, so many activities. am i really following the sacred rule of fjaka?!
monday for work i wore a jade green tunic top with beaded embellishments and my old navy dark wash baggy jeans. opted for sandal slides at work. at the pool i dressed up like an abusive ex, wearing a wife beater and baggy camo shorts.
tuesday i wore a christopher john rogers for target maxi dress (my favorite summer dress for work, and pride appropriate!), white target loafers not pictured.
for pool afternoon, i mismatched a purple top and black bottom and added only the baggy gym shirt.
wednesday for our baseball outing, i chose a look that matches summer camp: striped t shirt, denim shorts, and converse. hair in braids and not pictured was a tie dye baseball cap. for the pool this time i ditched the dude look and wore a cover up i got from an aunt years ago. had to go on a ben and jerry's run so i wore an armani exchange t shirt and black ripped jean shorts.
thursday for work i wore a cropped coca cola t shirt and rebecca minkoff samle sale jeans. not pictured are doc marten loafers. for a thrift run i borrowed sib's one-shoulder knit top and blue shorts. a quick change was made to change into legging shorts and walking shoes and go on a walk-turned ice cream stop. we got that far... friday for work i wore a sleeveless velvet top, marni graphic skirt and my black and gold flats. for a farmer's market/thrift run i wore my mom's old maxi dress and zara slides. for a late night walk i wore my gym gear.
saturday morning we woke up early to hit a morning farmer's market, thrift and downtown willoughby walk: the black vest came with a set of suit pants, and the skirt came initially with a tan vest. did some mixing and matching. both from my mom's collection. saturday night for bestie viki's birthday i wore a cropped baby blue kylie+kendall corset top, armani jeans, golden wedge sandals, and the newest purse in my collection, purchased that morning!
finally, on sunday i wore a giant josé martinez t shirt for the baseball game, calvin klein denim skirt, and my blue polarized john lennon-style sunglasses. bag was sib's uniqlo, and not pictured were my birkenstocks.
what am i looking forward to this week?
red, white, and blue everything baby. this country is a political and societal hell - but i sure as shit will be celebrating with boyfriend going arsonist on the fireworks, s'mores by the campfire and an insane amount of drinking. do i hear a possibility of camping out for the party in boyfriend super cool 1999 honda cr-v?
