6-22-2025 MY WEEK: chic and charred

it's getting hotter and hotter, and i am not allowed to complain considering the amount of complaints i spewed months prior about the winter and lack of ability to dress to impress. but i think you guys will notice the shift in what i'm wearing.. minimalism is acceptable in the winter only, but now i got to let loose completely. and personally, i'd rather deal with hell than icy cold.

my week went by in a daze of searching for the perfect wedge sandal. so far around me, no luck. i will share more about my wedge journey in my inspo segment of the week. i got lucky at the thrift with a pair of raffia style dolve vita chunky heels, totally brand new and in my size! i'd be crazy not to get them!?

the weekend plans got busy and fun, with many necessary outfit changes due to sweat and heat. no worries, for me, the more the merrier! let me try as many looks as possible.

here's some cocktails of this week, i made some mojito's  alongside our taco salad, and boyfriend and i tried spritz society - pink lemonade flavor. it's a new wine seltzer brand by some podcasters boyfriend listens to. the mojito was not too sweet but rather extremely refreshing with the mix of mint and lime. the seltzer was a bit too sweet and instantly gave me a headache i usually get with seltzers. we recently tried the iced tea flavored one, and i am not really a fan of iced tea in general so i was unimpressed. they do have a pickle juice (???) flavor that i am terrified of but curious to try. we'll see how brave i get in this heat.

i really want to like it, but it's just not it.
homemade mojito - peep the condensation

sib and i met my work bestie at cavotta's, a garden center and farm turned bar with live music. sib went crazy with the bogo plant sale, and i enjoyed an aperol spritz (cocktail of the week #3). picture this, no clouds in the sky, a beautiful venue and some orange wedges in my drink, while in the background an abba tribute band is belting the classics. it won't be my only time visiting this spot.

an aperol that hit. the. spot.
that saturday night sib and i had a bachelorette party to go to on the west side for sib's work bestie. i was enjoying the warmth of the night downtown, and the crowded streets didn't bother me, or the fact that i was drinking minimally (only one cosmo at our first bar - cocktail of the week #4). i danced my ass off and was sweaty, but felt no regrets at all. the night felt infinite, i had my sunglasses on and simply vibed with sib (we got the matching dance moves going. what a classic). it was easy to stay out until closing, and hiking back to the car because even the lake erie wind felt refreshing rather than punishing.
we all had bach-challenges to complete.
can we agree that "take a selfie with the bartender" is the coolest one?

sunday we were basking in the sun by the pool, then had a grilled dinner at bestie morgan's alongside a bonfire with smore's. i made us the benkovac cocktail (in wine glass with ice, two shots benkovac rosé, one shot cherry liqueur, top off with sprite and garnish with lavender and maraska cherry). i'm still recovering from the brutal mosquito bites.

i did my nails again this week and found some pinterest inspo, funky asymmetrical, organic shapes in a sparkly shade of bold red. sib purchased builder gel and this is about to be a game changer in our nail game. mom hates these nails by the way. i can see why. they're asymmetrical (on purpose) and she hates anything witchy.

looks of the week

dug through mom's skirt archives this week, my mom's collection is truly my favorite legacy in my closet. i often regret donating some of the stuff i no longer could fit. also, i had some band tee moments. toward the end of the week.

monday for work i wore a poof-sleeved black top and my mom's old graphic floral skirt in shades of black, grey and dusty rose. to match that pale pink i wore my ballerina-core converse.
in the afternoon i wore a tennis style dress with built in shorts (and even a hidden pocket!) for groceries i wore birkenstocks and tote, and for the walk i wore my skechers. i bought these tortoise-shell sunglasses years ago, probably at the mall.

tuesday for work i wore a ralph lauren grey knit top and another floral skirt from my mom's old collection, this time in various shades of blue. due to a/c in the office, i donned a cream colored cardigan. went to the mall tuesday night for a plain strapless black bikini and on the hunt for those mini wedge heels - so i wore my mom's old houndstooth top, and pants i bought at forever 21 right before they closed. here i go, overdressing...

wednesday i wore a thrifted sweater greyscale top and (you guessed it) my mom's old flared trousers. brave of my for wearing sandals during a downpour.
that afternoon, still on the hunt for the sandals. no luck but i scored those brand new dolce vita espadrille inspired chunky heels. i wore a long black dress from target and zara sandals - it was still kind of raining on and off. oops.

thursday for work i wore a striped blouse with american eagle bellbottoms. it was a bit fresh that day so sib and i walked to our local sushi spot for dinner and i wore a eurythmics t shirt, my mom's old adidas windbreaker, and uber-baggy shorts.

friday for work i wore a mesh newspaper print top under a red hot chili peppers t shirt. black maxi skirt from cro and my black and gold flats.
in the evening i had to run some errands and i wore a grey gym shirt and a bralette with shorts. listen up. much will be said about this look in my inspo entry. make sure you do your indie sleaze homework

saturday for cavotta's i wore a dusty blue tube top and white shorts with my replica tote and these floral sandals. i brought a mesh blouse in case it got too breezy. was absolutely not needed.
i've never been to a bachelorette party before, and i was frustrated that there wasn't any dress code guidelines. so i wore a chrome bodysuit, express dress shorts, and not pictured matching chrome gianni bini heels. my trusty leather calvin klein was at my shoulder.

sunday at the pool, i wore a linen blouse and pink shorts, as a cover up for my black bikini. bikini was the only thing necessary really.
for the bonfire and dinner i couldn't bring myself to wear much - other than a simple cotton hot pink ralph lauren dress. the summer dilemma is - do you cover up and suffer in the heat, or shed everything and get bitten?

what am i looking forward to this week?

more pool days or refuging in a/c buildings is the way to go for now. our bestie victoria is celebrating her birthday this weekend and i am so excited to reunite with the girls.
