5-4-2025 MY WEEK: animalistic blues

everyone say welcome back sib! she returns from her odyssey into the homeland, and bears a multitude of gifts.

aside from delicious snacks she brought back, sib got us more melem, a skincare brand from croatia i always try to stack up on. she got me april's vogue adria edition, that also included vogue living. it is i, readers, that am living for this. i also asked for an interview magazine if she found it in the european airports, as i used to get lucky during trips years prior. sib did not share that luck, but i am still grateful.

sib did not disappoint in the clothing department. here's just a small haul of items she brought back, that i know for a fact, i'll be borrowing:

trench coat from h&m.
gift from a family friend

tote bag from our hometown.
the art is ai and i am very upset

asymmetrical lace top with bell sleeves purchased at house

vintage evening dress from mom

our mom's old low rise jeans

technology-wise, she brought back my old metallic pink samsung digital camera i got as a gift in 4th grade, and while tinkering around, we realized it needed new batteries, and it works like a charm! the blog is not ready for the future digitals. she also brought back my old mp3 player, but we need to get a charger fit for it. i pray to see what kind of music is on it. this mp3 was my life for years, and my music collection was vast for a 4th grader. sib also brought my mom's old kodak film camera, and with bestie victoria's professional camera help, we'll try and rejuvenate this baby as well. we're totally going back to the future. next up, i might just feel frisky and switch to a nokia phone.

while i mentioned a wonderful time last week with bestie victoria, i got the black and white footage of our girl's day. bestie victoria is becoming the group's photographer and i was honored to be a model for the camera.

boyfriend and i went to another mix at the museum of art, and i finally caved into signing up for a membership. the museum is having a takashi murakami exhibit and members get opening night free. i'm taking the advantage of being a patron of the arts. this month's mix theme was called amplify, and it highlighted the asian and pacific islander heritage. we had a hawaiian flatbread and malasada (hawaiian donut) as snacks. our cocktails were garnished with colorful orchids (we later put them behind our ears). the dj's were amazing, and there were asian and indian dance performers, and a fashion presentation by fashion talks, a local fashion group, that showcased mesmerizing designs of south and east asian origin.

you may or may not be thinking: "what did you carry in your bag for the mix?" you most likely did not think of it, but i did document a what's in my bag moment (finally not forgetting to do so)

the bag choice of the night was this cherry red leather nine and co shoulder bag i thrifted at volunteers of america. my lip combo was a rusty red lip liner (i am on the hunt for a browner tone) paired with a nude lipstick. under the lip combo is my maison margiela replica tester perfume, the scent from the garden. below the perfume was a wad of napkins i try and keep in handy, then next to them are my trusty forever 21 sunnies. the dancefloor did get a glimpse at them, especially under the lights that glimmered like an ibiza sunset, and the dj of the night announcing he's playing "some old school house". always a pack of gum, and this mini duffle bag is a gift from boyfriend, a vintage fendi coin purse, in which i carry my aquaphor lip balm and eye drops. we curve back up to my keys and colorful rupaul lanyard, and  we finish off with my barcelona wallet. this baby can fit a lot!

looks of the week

a total case of the blues was evident the first half of the week, with lazy choices like multiple work t shirts worn, just to get by. my coworkers know that when i dress way too "normal" and casual, i'm probably going through a slump, or i'm simply not sleeping enough. i went a bit feral toward the end of the week, with leopard prints an animal themes.

here's a total monday outfit: totally basic yet comfy, my work t shirt, calvin klein jeans, and my skechers.

still in the blues, but more effort was put in on tuesday. i wore a button down short sleeve shirt with silky embroidered stripes, and a denim maxi skirt -  i switched up my sunglasses with sib's black and gold ray ban wayfarers. not pictured was my spring season debut of my classing black and gold slingback flats.

yawn - more work t shirts? wednesday i wore another work t shirt (i have one logged in indyx but own multiple. they're all the same so it's pointless to log each one separately) with my i.am.gia. cargo pants and juicy couture sneakers. i wore my mom's old jacket, and in the afternoon switched up some details as i was running errands and grocery shopping.

thursday is where animal city starts. i wore a leopard print short sleeve blouse with a thrifted maxi skirt originally from express, and my steve madden oxfords.

friday for work i wore a shiny black top under this forever 21 jumpsuit, and my converse.

friday night, for the mix, i wore a diane von furstenberg wrap dress i thrifted in nyc during thanksgiving, in a leopard pattern. i wore a red cord necklace with red beads, my silver cuff, and the heels are vintage jean paul gaultier, they're a rusty dark red color, and almost perfectly match with the nine and co. bag.

saturday we kept it cozy, first with a grey armani exchange t shirt with mom's jacket and sweatpants while i was at the garage sale and book sale, then i changed into my orville peck concert tee with 8 bit horses for a late lunch with boyfriend, cleaning the house for sib, and picking her up from the airport at midnight.

what am i looking forward to this week?

in the mail, i got the local events calendar, i checked my email for happenings at the library, rock and roll hall of fame, and the museum of art. my spring/summer calendar is practically double/triple booked so i will be far from bored this season.
cinco de mayo is monday, and while my original gang members are mostly focusing on their school and health, group drinking on a monday seems like something we'll postpone for now.
karaoke for my clients is this wednesday, so i plan to be there and cheer on.
friday is the art reception for the local exhibit i submitted my work for, and i plan to be there whether or not i win any prizes.
i'm hopeful i'll make it to other various events i have on my calendar as suggestions, such as local band performances, library seminars, and documentary screenings.
