the long weekend came announcing the start of the summer season, and i am returning with my late reports on how my week went, and what i wore.
a missed opportunity for good weather this whole week was. on wednesday i went to a little league baseball game with my clients, and while it was warm, the grey clouds seemed threatening. we were on the lookout for raindrops that would've ruined our pastime.
monday i did my nails, and boyfriend describes them as "beer pong nails": the yellow dot represents the ping pong ball and the red squares the cup. i really like that interpretation. mine was a bit more intellectual, a vague inspiration from mondrian's work and basic geometry and colors. i should do rorschach blot nails next. analysis and diagnosis is what i do best, ask all my friends.

my highlight of the week was definitely going on over the weekend. while last week sib and i planned to have a beachy day in put-in-bay, the weather hasn't been just right for the beach, but a hike did do. we spent a whole-day trip to ohio's cuyahoga valley national park. we started a hike at boston mills, explored and wandered through the paths hidden with mysteries and ugly truths of the hardships from 100 years ago. being pro hikers we are, we came to peninsula, the town next door, and stumbled upon the cuyahoga scenic train. sib and i have never been on a train before, and we know that a scenic train isn't really like a real one, but we didn't want to lose the opportunity to check it out. now sib and i infamously get into predicaments when exploring new places, which is just our lack of research. instead of hopping off 5 minutes into the ride back to boston mills, we decided to chill while the train goes all the way back north. this is where my subtle anxiety kicked in. will the train come back down? are going to be stuck in this park until night time? i was definitely overthinking and worrying myself, but luckily the train did go back to peninsula. okay, what's another hour hike back to the car?
adventuring for one day wasn't suffice for me, and i spent sunday and monday in niagara falls (ny side) with boyfriend. i'll tell you about day one this week but then will share more next week on the blog. because i came home late monday night, and exhausted, i am just now finishing up editing my blog edits.
with no rain in sight, i made us ledeni nes aka iced nescaffe coffee for boyfriend and i, and he got us breakfast bagels. we embarked at around 9am and had a sunny clear ride eastward. but as we traversed lakeside, and as we entered niaara, the clouds started turning grey. i knew it wasn't going to b super hot, but with upper 50s and expecting sun i would've been comfortable. well, it wasn't. we got drinks at the bar while planning out afternoon. we initially wanted to go to the maid of the mist boat ride but the cold weather scared us. we finished our classic cocktails and walked across the street to mami house, an authertic philipino eatery and indulged in sticky noodles and deliciously spiced broth. i was doing research on vintage stores but most good ones were on the canadian side (and someone forgot their passport. can you guess which one of us?). we found a vintage mall beside a fashion outlet plaza. we looked around the vintage mall and i found a lot of cheap records, but nothing exciting enough to buy. we were caught by surprising hail on our way out, and resorted, defeated back to the hotel. after waiting out the rain, we braced ourselves for a 10 minute walk to the state park, and went on the observatory deck, rode the trolley and bought souvenirs. to warm us up, we got some indian food from a street vendor (we paid the price for good food). we ended the night dressing up a bit fancier for the seneca casino and finished the night with a small win. i'm leaving you on a cliffhanger, and will share more about monday next week...

looks of the week
like a caterpillar not ready to hatch into a butterfly, i cocooned in only the basics and safe layers. i am craving for avant garde, color, and heat to justify less cloth.
monday i wore long american eagle wide jeans and a basic mocha top with doc martens loafers - for work.tuesday - still basic for work. a shiny polyester black top and striped skinny jeans. converse sneakers and scorpio earrings.
for an afternoon walk (that only lasted less than 20 mins due to rain), i wore a vintage chagrin falls sweatshirt, leggings and my skechers.
wednesday for work and the baseball game i wore my mom's old jacket and a work tee and skechers like a mom on a field trip. black jeans are vintage armani collezioni. quiet luxury right there.
thursday at work i wore a ralph lauren long sleeve cotton shirt, plaid slacks, and my mom's old jean jacket (from yugo days) and sneakers. classic and classic.friday for work i wore a 3/4sweater, brown pants and sherlock holmes trench. we had to run some errands in the afternoon (pre-road trip right?) and i wore leggings, a chagrin falls sweatshirt and boyfriend's race jacket (i wear this more than him).
for our hike road trip saturday i wore a white tee under a cotton button down from target, these cargo pants i think i bought years ago at tj maxx, my trusty skechers, sunnies, hair in two braids, and this bright orange crossbody we got a couple years ago when we went to the tequila fest in cleveland. it's ugly but it's super convenient!
sunday in niagara. my first fit was for the car ride, simple tan sweatpants, my jewelry, a newtote bag (complimentary when i ordered my margiela perfume refill), sleeveless turtle neck and denim jacket. pick number two with boyfriend, at the observatory deck. wearing jeans this time, a green v neck shirt and same denim jacket. third pick in hotel room right before leaving for casino. silk ralph lauren button down bluse, same skinny jeans, and mini wedge sandals. feeling very minimalistic but also chic.
what am i looking forward to this week?
expect a final recap of my trip at niagara. sib's laptop's storage is giving me a hard time so i'm drafting, editing and publishing at the local library. love this for me. am trying to take as long as possible without actually purchasing a laptop.
this friday expect a remaining 6 reunion after a very long time. with some girls being out of state and some in school, our time together has been very virtual. we're planning a presentation night. can't wait to share the laughs.
more reunions to come as i'll be meeting with some of my old coworkers on saturday to get some lunch and catch up. could we expect a day trip anywhere else this weekend? there's a high chance according to this girl's prognosis.
