4-6-25 MY WEEK: buttoned to the top!

happy april! we started the month with true april showers, but i stay hopeful. sib and i went to karaoke for my clients on wednesday and then the mix at the museum of art on friday.

fits of the week

monday at work, i was fooled (right before april) - by the ohioan weather. thinking it was just as warm as the weekend was, i wore a 3/4 top my mom gave me, and a vintage ralph lauren jacket. thankfully i wore tights to save me from ultimately freezing (i am exaggerating.)

tuesday at work i was no longer fooled. i layered up quite a bit: a thrifted ann taylor blouse under a grandpa vest, paired with vintage levi's and armed with a beanie.

wednesday i layered once again, this dress is an ancient relic from croatia, purchased in my senior year of high school. it's pretty short-ish and very fitted, so for structure i added a marni skirt on top.

wednesday night was karaoke for my clients, and i wore a silk blouse (once my mom's), and another relic - ripped skinny jeans from high school.

thursday i kept it lauren, ralph lauren - wearing a men's blouse and white denim - both thrifted. it was much warmer at this point.

friday at work i wore a velvet top and bellbottoms, paired with a chanel-esque cardigan from croft and barrow (s
econd hand)
friday night for mix i wore this stand studio asymmetrical top and sib's mini skirt (with built in shorts thankfully), steve madden heels and lots of leather. did my hair up - simone de beauvoir style (aka the helga/olga as sib and i call it). the theme was strata - celebrating indigenous culture. i saw a couple looks that were borderline appropriating...

saturday i went with boyfriend to a family birthday party, where i wore more of a tribal look then than at mix. it's a boho blouse with some seashell beads hanging from the collar and sleeves. paired with new york and co slacks, uniqlo bag and sneakers.

the local cultural center is doing an exhibit where the locals can submit their work and earn a prize, so i've been motivated to get back into painting and submit something of my own. whether i win or not, i am just happy to get back into painting.
here's three works i did over the weekend.
collage inspired by a piece i saw at the met during my nyc visit

sib has been working her sewing machine off - no need for shein purchases when the sweatshop is at home, and the items are made with more love!

this is a second-hand button up shirt, possibly was a men's size. i like the stripes and the pocket, but this shirt was too large and frumpy.

here's sib's finished product. a vivienne westwood inspired corset for the summer - and look! the pocket is there too!

what am i looking forward to this week?

record store day is this coming saturday, and my plan is to hit the local record store and broaden my collection. i'm always open to band posters too, so perhaps i'll treat myself with that as well...
♪stay groovy!
