this sweltering heat got me in such a sluggish state, you may find me laying in my room on the floor, directly under the blast of my window unit, scrolling through every app imaginable, phone overheating, clothes sticking to me, and any movement causes my head to sweat. should i just shave my head bald at this point? nah, because if i step into the sun, my scalp would get a 3rd degree burn. in later hours, when the mirage of locust and western harmonica sounds die down, i am actually able to hear my thoughts, and type up a blog entry.
back to work this week, and i've been excitedly flashing my ring to any person in my vicinity, to anyone who dared to ask, "how was your vacation?". beside riding the post-vacay, post-engagement wave, i am also feeling (somewhat) patriotic. world cup watch parties in bars and fearing ronaldo's lifeless botox filled face, and fourth of july parties even though we're living under surveillance and a literally shitty president (have you heard of the numerous times he shat himself during press conferences?), i've been wearing my red, white, and blues with somewhat ironic ideals about freedom and patriotism.
after thursday's fifa steal, i retired the checkers and swapped them for stars and stripes. fourth of july was a better party than last year, and our hydration breaks. fireworks, drinks, shots, and lots of girly girl time was spent with bestie morg and other friends.peep the 4th of july nails:
even if there was an inkling of hangover left in me, sunday was spent in proper self-care form: brunch with bestie vic and dishing the latest tea with spicy cocktails and delayed but yummy food at artis in lakewood. the rest and relaxation continued through the day with a quick nap and a pool hangout with the croatian crew and a friend selling us the idea of cruises. next vacay idea? finally, ice cream at the local creamery and finishing up the blog deets.
this week's fits
as mentioned above, red, white, and blue dominate heavily this week. checkers, stripes and stars baby. it makes it easy when croatia and the usa flags color coordinate. the patterns though, that's what spices everything up.
monday. first day back to work. i borrowed sib's brand new adidas maxi skirt. light denim proved to be extremely lightweight for this heatwave. white tee, adidas gazelles, valentino sunnies, gold-based jewelry, van gogh tote.
monday nite. sib, fiancé, and i craved chinese so we dragged ourselves to the local buffet for dinner. our bodies are adjusting to the diet here again. borrowed sib's tank, white maxi skirt (passed with no stains - can you believe that?), accessory repeat, brown flip flops.
what better fitspo for a heatwave than myscene: jammin' in jamaica? tuesday work look consisted of a dkny slouchy red top, the same white maxi skirt, and an oversized woven belt. rose pattern tote, red flats, and valentino sunnies.
we had a 4th of july party at work on wednesday, so i wore my striped tee, some 90s mom jeans, a harper's bazaar red, white and blue tote, red flats, blue john lennon sunnies, an eagle ring and bracelets following the general color scheme. some coworkers thought of where's waldo, some clients called me sexy. "the dichotomy is crazy".
sib begged for a window ac unit in her office, so i dressed in proper work attire (black tank, linen shorts, tote bag and flip flops) to head to menards, fuel up with dairy queen, then singlehandedly install the bastard. almost flipped a breaker when we turned both units on.

as promised, more checkers. thursday i had to do some half-day work, so i geared up in my croatia tee, paired with a bright red dkny wrap skirt. horsebit slingback flats, harper's bazaar tote, and red, white, blue jewelry.in the evening we met up with our friend to watch the game and i wore this checkered dress my mom got me, back in 2018 after that world cup. paired with the same accessories, just swapped the flats for steve madden sandals.
friday - jewelry store + lunch with fiancé. we had to go resize my ring, so we got some lunch too. i wore a tory burch striped polo, jorts, brown purse and flip flops, ray ban sunnies.
saturday - fourth of july. i wore a striped tee and star-spangled shorts, chucks, harper's bazaar red, white and blue tote, some color-coded jewelry and gold sporty gucci sunnies. instead of a star-spangled betty (my inspo) i was actually called where's waldo.

sunday. brunch with vic. i wore a bcbg asymmetrical top, wide leg jeans, and woven purse and belt to match. gold micro sunnies, vivienne westwood necklace and steve madden tabis.pool hangout. a striped jumpsuit and not pictured was sib's bikini i borrowed. urban outfitters sunnies, some gold jewelry, birkenstocks and woven bag.
what am i looking forward to next week?
fiancé and i might be doing some more dinners and hangouts with friends, a true back to work week is expected after this short work week due to the holiday.
