5-10-2026 MY WEEK: rainy days ahead...?

it sucks that the weather is so unpredictable with the scattered showers, often disrupting our park walks and forcing us to go indoors, and for some reason my car does this weird glitch that it takes us to the mall so we can window shop while getting our daily 10,000 steps. isn't that so annoying?

i became a fashion victim on one of these particular days. okay, i'm blowing it out of proportion, but i've done some damage on the credit card. firstly, we walk thru dick's, and i am not an athleisurewear person, but i was stopped in my tracks when i saw these adidas shorts:

i've been looking for some star-spangled pants, jeans in particular, or just a decent pair of shorts to thrift and paint stars on for 4th of july. not because i'm feeling extra patriotic on the 250th birthday of america (far from patriotism i'd say), but because of betty boop.

in march i found this adorable tee at the thrift, and while i think betty boop everything is cute, the tee wasn't what i wanted, i wanted betty's look:

how freaking adorable and original. star pants and a striped tee?! i needed this combo for whatever i end up doing on the fourth. no biggie, i think, sib has a striped bikini top i can borrow, and i will triple-check the jeans sections at every thrift, for at least a decent pair to paint over. so, you can imagine my delight upon seeing these pre-"starred" denim varsity shorts. to make my decision easier, sib is an adidas fan, urging me to purchase them and she'll even pay me half of its price.

sold!

here is a potential look i'd do with the items mentioned, to become star-spangled moi. step aside, lady liberty, america is my catwalk:

this week's looks

this week i had a safe rotation of repetitive pieces, possibly due to comfort, weather insecurity, and just being able to change fast for different occasions. lots of lilac, which is a shade uncommon for my closet choice. dark greys dominated. my gold leather hobo bag was the star of the week, and i'm starting to notice some wear on her. i promise i'll give her a break this week.

monday i wore a bunny sweatshirt in a lilac shade, dark grey bellbottom pants, loafers and gold tote bag, with gucci sunnies and my usual jewelry mix. casual and comfy, and of course it was a toasty day so i regretted not using this fit for one of the cooler days of the week.

voting/errands
work

tuesday for work i wore another lilac piece - this time a skirt with abstract swirls i took from mother. paired with more dark greys, a long cardigan and a v-neck tee. slingback flats, and the tote of the week.
went voting for the primaries after work and picked up some chips for cinco de mayo (too rainy for a mexican restaurant patio), and i made myself a spicy mango marg at home. for that i wore an oversized gym tee boyfriend gave me, baggy distressed jeans, my trusty sneakers and the same long grey cardigan.

for work on wednesday i wore a crisp cotton blouse and subtly patterned khaki trousers, fisherman loafers, a patterned headband and the gold tote again.

wednesday afternoon we took a super long walk to our grocery store to get some stuff. we're saving gas, getting our steps in, and promoting walkable spaces with every step we take. wearing an abercrombie sweatshirt boyfriend gave me, flared yoga pants, a 2015-style military jacket, sneakers.

a very subdued marine look for thursday. turtleneck sleeveless top, oversized cardigan and striped ankle-length pants. loafer flats, swapped between two pairs of sunnies.

friday i wore a denim maxi skirt, black ribbed tank, and a very warm vintage talbots tartan cardigan. paired with frilly lace socks stolen from sib's drawer, and my red ballet flats. one of my clients said, "very 90s".

saturday it didn't shower, instead we showered our friend arijana for her bridal shower. while my heels were absolutely killing me, the pain disappeared each time i had a good laugh or a strong hug with friends. i love celebrating! sib and i were super impressed with the subtle "casino" theme with card games and bingo. it really matched the couple's vibes, and it was a breath of fresh air from the constant florals. i'm wearing a vintage beaded tank, champagne satin maxi skirt, ultra tall heels, fendi sunnies, some jewelry and my gold leather crossbody purse.

sunday was mother's day brunch at the croatian hall. i'd rather be spending time with my mom, instead sib and i were sorting her croatian school kids in line for their recitals. who am i to complain, though, we got good food and pineapple mimosas! i wore a dior floral and houndstooth top, diesel skirt with silver side zippers, mark fisher suede pumps, croc leather wristlet, ray ban sunnies, and leaned with more violet jewelry choices

mother's day was made ideal when i spent sunday evening with boyfriend's family for dinner, dessert, and lots of laughter. wearing a casual set here, feeling cozy for the amount of good food i ate: from multiple variations of dips; sinfully delicious, deviled eggs; date and cashew protein balls with a side of freudian slips that had me crying of laughter.

what am i looking forward to next week?

the calendar is slowly filling up with various events, mostly piled up on the weekend. nevertheless, i am in the mood for evening walks thru dtw and drinks at kava sol, a yoga sesh here and there, and action-packed weekend activities. i have a package arriving for me, and the only spoiler i'm giving is that this article will surely cause some commotion. stay tuned!
