3-22-2026 MY WEEK: luck be a lady

i hope everyone got their fair share of corn beef, reuben, guiness, and bagpipes this week. last week's entries were written in a st paddy's day-drunk haze, and the vibes continue as tuesday was post-work meeting/st patrick's day happy hour at a local bar - all with the excuse to have our reuben rolls.

feeling lucky? i do! maybe it's because i am excited to write about everything i love, and positive psychology forces me to think of all that brings me luck. before the blog, my diaries would've heard all about it. i can't state how much this blog does well for my mental health, creative process, and just helping me document everything good in my life. and trust - not everything is four leaf clovers and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. sometimes we're pinched by the leprechauns. working in mental health, i try to remind everyone (and myself in the process) we can flip from glass half-empty to glass half-full. most of the job is truly our perception.

maybe you felt leftovers of the friday the thirteenth last week but let this blog find you like a four leaf clover in a spring meadow, manifesting warm days and lots of luck.

my luck was apparent at the local thrift on friday when boyfriend decided he wanted to hunt for silver, and i was on the lookout for jeans for another paint project. was boyfriend my lucky charm that night? i ravaged through the place, picking up 2 pairs of straight leg ralph lauren jeans that have that perfect 'boyfriend' fit, three tops with amazing quality beading and total whimsy, a pair of gianni bini wedges and loafers with beautiful gold hardware. even sib got a treat: one pair of peep toe black heels, and a pair of chunky bcbg tortoise shell heel sandals. boyfriend treated me with a vintage cuff watch (even though he said he'd like to know if it's real silver first)
check out the fits below and how i plan on styling these treasures: red arrows represent the newest babies in my closet.
this beaded tank feels like a perfect piece for a maxi skirt and a fancy version of evening wear.

the sleeves to this top are a bit sheer and the beading is heavy and detailed.
jeans seem like they fall at the perfect spot on the hips. these loafers fit like a glove (i bought a pair around black friday but they're so wide i would need to double up on socks otherwise they'd slip off!)

a turn to grunge with the top - with studs familiar to the trends of 2014-16. the watch is hammered metal cuff, and i need to get a new battery but it's very chic. the wedges have a wrap on the ankle with shades of tan and brown. the other pair of jeans just differ slightly in shade.

and sib and i are really into department stores lately (read more in my inspo and faves about that), and we couldn't resist checking out the closing sale of our local saks fifth avenue. the store was already half-empty (the closure was announced early in march), and we found beauties on the racks, but the prices still felt sky-high.
this milly dress caught sib's attention
"take a photo so i can recreate it"
sib and i were democratic. we set some budgeting strategies before diving in to reduce disappointment (in leaving empty-handed) and regret (in credit card bills). the rule was - we find specific items we know both of us could wear, we both must try them on, choose only one item, then check out the sunglasses and shoe section just in case: sunnies must fit both of us, and shoes have to be 7.5 to fit both of us.
the shoes were pretty scarce, with some versace peep-toes and stuart weitzman flip flop wedges, but we scored so well at the thrift the day before, there was nothing worthy of purchasing. we attempted to really love some sunglasses, particularly prada ones caught our attention, but once again - nothing seemed worthy of spending $400...
the clothing section gave us hope. i saw numerous items i totally wouldn't bother spending on, but they weren't my size. we narrowed down to 3 items: a tweed vest top by toccin, wide leg chrome jeans by joey (still looking for chrome jeans from my dreams), and a ramy brook beaded halter top. the tweed just felt a bit too short around the waist, the jeans too big, but the halter - just right!
below is a style of the haul, completed with chunky rings i also purchased at h&m while spending the day at the mall:
since we were so mindful and since we shopped 'til our legs ached, we treated ourselves with dinner at shuhei - a traditional japanese restaurant not far from the mall. in this hidden cove, you can find traditional japanese setup with waitresses dressed in kimonos and tabi socks. while the food is on the pricier side than our usual sushi joints, our meals were so fresh and shunei offers a wide variety of seafood.
sib's plate of fried crab and veggies, with brown rice and vinegar.

this week's looks

this week felt like that confusing transitional period between winter and spring. i traditionally put away the chunky sweaters on the first day of spring, until winter again. as you can see, the fits vary from the chunky sweaters to t-shirts.
monday was a tough styling day - the morning was 60° and by 4 o clock, my drive home from work was miserable with flurries and a low of 20°. borrowed sib's white old navy top, ripped jeans, van gogh tote and a tweed guess coat. doc martens platforms.
tuesday - st patrick's day - i wore an emerald sweater, green hat and khaki green tote. need to be holiday appropriate. backed up the fit with a plaid calvin klein coat, moto boots, calvin klein jeans and jewelry stack.

referenced rosie whiteley huntington in 2010s with this layered ensemble. a vivid grape colored merino wool ralph lauren sweater paired with halston pants, steve madden riding-style boots, marc jacobs tote bag. layered a cropped faux leather jacket with a faux fur vest - a hit in my eyes! to really give that 2010s look i added these oversized oscar de la renta sunnies. wednesday at work

thursday was a total horse-girl preppy vibe. lots of ralph lauren - blazer + sweater, coach bag, steve madden boots, and sleek flared jeans. ray ban sunnies and silver jewelry.

thrift look
work look

friday's work look was inspired by edie sedgwick - all black look, tee and calvin klein straight leg jeans, with a tweed croft and barrow cardigan a la chanel. white loafers, and my jewelry stack and coach bag. for thrift i went full sport mode (for swiftness and comfort). a vintage sweatshirt, leggings, and ugg boots, i only decorated a bit with the sunnies and signature jewelry.

saturday's mall look. tried on the recently thrifted items: ralph lauren jeans + black loafers, added my community college sweatshirt, jewelry stack, ray bans and coach bag.

pastels for sunday. oscar de la renta sweatshirt, armani collezioni jeans, dusted off my flats, pastel coach bag, seashell necklace and other jewelry, ray bans.

what am i looking forward to next week?

sib and i are taking a road trip to columbus for the weekend. we have a full agende: ikea, grandpa's cheese barn, easton, and thrifting. fingers crossed for good weather to keep my car in the parking lot for most of the trip!
