10-26-2025 MY FAVES: a collection of the strangest movies on croatian tv
books of the week
this week i have been slowly reading the period brain. when with family, i do get distracted with a million other things to do, but i am enjoying educating myself on the mysteries of womanhood.
movies of the week
i've been watching some interesting movies on our local tv. parents don't believe in cable, so we are at mercy of the gods of local niche blockbusters.
boyfriend and i watched the croatian film šalša - a zombie apocalypse comedy about people on a small island, infected by mystery tomatoes. nationalistic songs save the day.
we watched hit man starring glen powell and adria arjona. glen powell's hair pissed my off so much. but the film was tense with an interesting ending. it's loosely based on a true story (with some obvious hollywood tropes).
late friday night, boyfriend and i stayed up, sort of watching this strange movie with a great cast but severely depressing plot: powder blue. starring ray liotta, patrick swayze (his last film), jessica biel (allegedly was also naked for a scene and many weird dudes were obsessed with it), forest witaker, and a young eddie redmayne. characters intertwine with their own depressing stories - think a very depressing intel-like version of love, actually. the soundtrack, though, was pretty good. i didn't finish it.
music of the week
other than listening to the soundtrack of powder blue, the local radio stations in cafe's have been giving me songs for shazaming. here's this week's top 5 newly saved songs.
blanket - urban species, imogen heap
disco - the bastardz
nitko kao ti - songkillers
the adults are talking - the strokes
nouveau western - mc solaar
