10-05-2025 MY INSPO: new style previews and september in review
style my haul!
last week i flaunted the goodies i thrifted and bought, and i decided to make a fit for each look. something simple to give me ideas for future wears.
the new item here are the steve madden sandal heels. i leaned toward a spring summer look. picnic in the park, or a stroll after a boozy brunch. denim gap dress, yellow bandana, fendi sunglasses and vintage tropical purse. handmade earrings and an orange hair tie/bracelet. the heels are super colorful, containing yellow, pink, blue, green, and orange. i already wore the shoes once, so i think i'll have lots of freedom to play around - they're super comfy, and the varied colors will catch my eye frequently.
another shoe - these golden embossed vintage lady cup sandals. super unique, i fell in love with them immediately. this look could be a bit transitional but possibly more for warmer weather. red halter top, high waisted jeans, and to bring out the gold, i styled this black blazer adorned with vintage brooches and this magazine clutch with gold details and gold earrings. the red felt lonely so i added another bandana - with colorful tropical flowers.
here - a simple cashmere sweater. i've been on the hunt for a 100% cashmere sweater that doesn't look unflattering. this is a timeless piece - neutral and could be over or underdressed. this is a look for the colder weather. a midi skirt and floral tights with pops of yellow and dusty blue. leather vintage jacket, north face ushanka, asymmetrical sunnies and uniqlo bag to bring out the blues, and doc martens fisherman loafers and gold necklace (for the yellow in the tights). i feel like this is a look i could possibly be wearing this winter for work or a cute night out with the girls.
styled by a blog friend
i recently mentioned fashion blogger paperdoll sammy, and i asked her for an opinion on a very delicate item i thrifted, and have been perplexed about how to style it.
a while ago i thrifted a christian dior qipao robe. i mean, in an antique mall out here in the middle of the midwest, with a unique design - it called my name.
now the tough part was - how to style this item? is it offensive? i did research, but lots of varied answers came up.
the blogger recently posted this article on modern chinoiserie on substack, and it was a great opportunity to explore if and how my own robe could be an everyday look.
she was extremely kind enough to reassure me - as long as it's not caricature, it is not appropriation, but rather appreciation.
here's how she suggested my qipao could be styled - in this substack article, and here's how i interpreted it with my own accessories.
