9-7-2025 MY WEEK: pain doesn't stop the party

it was a week of uncertainty. nothing super existential, just ohio weather during these transitional periods... and lower back pain, creeping in each morning. some days, the nerves hurt so bad i lay in supine position, reading whatever is around me - teen magazine, croatian literature, the new yorker. sib and i still take our walks, and i try to do stretches in between. but seriously - at 26 to feel 60? so i just lay. stretch, walk, lay. try to do chores and cook until my legs feel numb, then back in my spot with a heating pad blasting both back and couch. is this it? the dreadful 'this is how it is when you're old' kind of pain? 

still, this weekend was all about sib. and her wishes and desires were met. 

for her birthday, we went out to the museum for another mix event - this month's theme was  90s homecoming. we continued the night in the flats where we boogied all night long (sib's request for her birthday: "getting drunk and dancing all night long, while looking really good").

sib's birthday festivities continued even after a heavy hangover from friday. saturday night we went with bestie nicole to our usual spots in dtw. we were pleasantly surprised when someone on touchtunes played the strokes and early grimes... who hides there with such niche taste?

sunday morning there was no hangover thanks to late night taco bell, so sib and i visited le petit triangle, a french style café, for some escargots (sib's wish), paté, lattes and fromage. the dichotomy of food choices this weekend is crazy. we did some window shopping at crocker park (mostly buying little trinkets like sunglasses, leather bracelets, and porcelain style earrings). we end the night at home, chilling and making homemade mac and cheese, and devouring chocolate cake. we'll probably stay up until midnight so sib can open her gifts.

this week's looks

layering has been total key for my work days. and for walks - a white tee and blue short combo is trusty enough for me. 

monday i wore a ralph lauren tee with shorts, for my afternoon walk. i didn't work (labor day!!), so i got to stay lazy with the fit.

tuesday i return to work in a tailored robin's egg blue blouse, wide leg trousers, and chunky high heel oxfords. not pictured are sunnies, shoes, and tote bag. 

for an evening walk, i wore basically the same fit as monday (guilty!), just added a jacket, tote and different sunnies. 

wednesday for work i wore a black knit top with white stripes on the lower hem, knit pencil skirt, and white loafers with black soles. broke the monotony with dark denim jacket and work bag. 

for evening walk i wore a cropped i ❤ny tee, speedo shorts, and my skechers.

thursday i wore a vintage dior top with high waisted jeans and borrowed sib's cardigan. shoes were converse. plus not photographed were my work bag and sunnies. i wore a sleek bun after scrolling through chloe malle's instagram. sleek buns are the new bob i hear.

friday for work i wear a faux silk blouse, dark wash wide jeans, doc martens fisherman loafers, giant fendi sunnies, long champ tote.

for sib's birthday celebration and the mix, i wore a 90s halter mini dress, thrifted dolce vita heels and a raffia style clutch to match. 

for morning errands (in a hungover state), i wore a wide armani jeans tee, black leggings, vanity fair tote, havaianas and versace sunnies. simple but chic, no?

for an impromptu night out at the bars, i wore the same armani top and tote, added armani collezioni jeans (rip mr armani), a flannel wide shirt, and not pictured are my pumas.

for our sunday brunch and window shopping, i wore this recently thrifted chanel tee, j crew sorts, a pinstripe blazer. not pictured are steve madden oxfords, and a kate spade hobo bag.

what am i looking forward to this week?

★i'm excited to take sib out for another actual birthday dinner, per her request she wanted steak. so possibly a night out at a steak house where we can dress fancy (and maybe some sushi for myself?). a perfect monday.

★we're going rock climbing with bestie victoria on friday! it will be amusing, to say the least.
