8-3-2025 MY FAVES: american gothic

 books of the week

i finally completed midnight sun, in the most perfect setting: in the cabin in vermont, while the sun was setting. the book was interesting, but i feel afraid what would stephenie meyer continue doing in trying to make edward the good guy.
next book is twelve years of a slave, which i found at a book sale recently. the book is rather small, and i watched the movie a few years ago, with minimal memory of details. a heartbreaking story about the ugly american history. it's important we remember these ugly truths were still happening years later, and now we see history repeating itself in an ugly manner as well. free people being kidnapped and enslaved? sounds pretty familiar in the big 25 too. this isn't just a 1800s situation.

music of the week

kesha's tits out tour was beyond phenomenal. this girl played the classics and introduced us to the new stuff. here's 5 kesha songs currently on my rotation:
crazy beautiful life
the drama
die young (remix) - with juicy j, wiz khalifa, becky g
thinking of you
joyride.

while in vermont, i didn't listen to a lot music, but when i did - i had a playlist of mostly folky type of songs. and i listened to a lot of random indie songs toward the end of the week, anything indie/folk chill was the vibe.
