8-17-2025 MY WEEK: the dog days of summer

the fjaka of last week finally subsided, and i went back to yoga, salsa dancing, and even a free local concert (a def leppard tribute band). saturday i did some drunk tubing down cuyahoga river (possibly the best way to get daydrunk), and i even went to our local feast of assumption picnic. i'm catching the last waves of summer, because it could all go away real fast.

this week's looks

lots of patterns like glitter, abstracts, and optical illusions followed particularly at work. otherwise, i kept it sporty and utilitarian. shout out to sib's closet! came in clutch! and peep the new shoes i'm not taking off toward the end of the week. they will be worn out.

monday for work i wore a v neck grey top and sparkly urban outfitters disco pants, styled with brown sunglasses, diamond studs, work tote, and doc martens loafers. my coworker told me i was glistening in the sun.

for yoga i wore a royal blue crop and high waisted biker shorts, replica tote, and birkenstocks

tuesday for work i wore a white tee under a jumpsuit, added a silver chain belt. not pictured: black steve madden chunky sandals and longchamp tote. 

in the afternoon i had my lash lift appointment, and i wore a muscle tee with dress shorts, black flip flops and tote. messy, messy.

wednesday for work i wore a leopard print top and black pencil skirt. not pictured: zara sandal slides, sunnies, and longchamp tote.

afternoon running errands: beatles tee, striped slacks, birkenstocks, and necessary accessories.

thursday for work i wore a vest top from yugoslavia (my mom's ancient piece) and vintage faded glory jeans. not pictured, accessories and birkenstocks.

for my salsa lesson, i channeled step up: crop top with ribbed back, and boyfriend's sweatpants. i wore my skechers and a tote bag.

friday for work i was in greyscale: grey top from h&m, vintage black and white optical illusion skirt, steve madden sandals. for the city fest, complete opposite: colorful weekend maxmara bodysuit, navy shorts, new sneakers (something less chunky for future salsa classes), white tote, lots of jewelry.

saturday for tubing i had two changes obviously, pre- and post-tubing. while tubing and prior, i wore a white tank, blue speedo shorts, and bikini. tan baseball cap, and sandals i bought specifically for this event as there was a strict "water-shoe" policy. i got lots of compliments though.

sunday for church picnic i borrowed sib's white sundress this time, and her coach bag. here's these new puma palermo shoes, with neon soles. i saw them last week at the store, and all week i've been itching to actually get them. i'm happy i did, now i'm bringing back 2012 neon fits. also, in joan didion's book i just read, she talked about how she bought pumas too (influenced i was) - so she doesn't trip and fall and kill herself in sandals. 

what am i looking forward to this week?

no more laziness - i have a meeting in the capital on friday and i will be using that time to do a day trip and thrift around after work. my tiktok spies have been providing me with some great rec's. boyfriend and i are doing a cooking class date on saturday, excited for that too. rom com-ish much? work has been incredibly busy, and is staying busy. i actually am unable to do other chores, like scheduling a dentist appointment, pickup my contacts, basically anything requiring 9-5.
