3-9-2025 MY INSPO: wear or tear the oscar looks?

the oscars were last week so i spent the week viewing and deciding my fave looks of the night. i listened to the run-through with vogue podcast episode recapping the greatest night of hollywood. the hosts (and myself) agreed that the red carpet looks were very classic hollywood. could it be a reflection of our current political times? i noticed an influx in the mermaid style dresses and everyone seemed skinny (are we just going to collectively ignore this?).

here's ten of my fave red carpet looks (not in particular order):

1. demi moore elizabeth sparkling in armani privé. i loved her role in the substance, and i wish she would've won for best actress. either way her looks during award season were winners. love the earrings, and would've loved a necklace too.

2. jeff goldblum in prada. it is always refreshing to see men in something other than a classic tux. never forget his runway moment for the prada fall/winter menswear collection.

3. andrew garfield looking as sweet as chocolate in a gucci brown tux. what a sexy unbuttoned moment! very unorthodox, very tom ford-like.

4. lupita nyong'o in chanel. i am always excited to see her on the red carpet, she is always a classic beauty. i'm usually not a fan of chanel on or off the runway (too stale and boxy for my liking), but the details on the corset are so beautiful and intricate. i would've loved to see a necklace on her as well.

5. miley cyrus in alexander mcqueen and the barely there eyebrows. love the high neckline. hate the veneers.

6. anok yai wearing marni. the silhouette is phenomenal and i love the necklace and the shawl.

7. halle berry in christian siriano. her hair is super cute and she looks like a walking mirrorball (i mean it in the best way). with that neckline a simple necklace wouldn't have been overkill.

8. elle fanning looking like a vintage star in sarah burton's new era of givenchy. she never fails a red carpet moment.

9. margaret qualley's sexyback moment in chanel was iconique. the updo and the reverse necklace, paired with the velvet material of the dress and plunging backline were classic but cheeky. this is such a marilyn monroe sexy moment.

10. last but not least, timothee chalamet buttered up in sarah burton's givenchy like co-star elle fanning. i wish he won for best actor.

now let's move on to the vanity fair afterparty, where the celebrities were able to wow! us a bit more.
1. jenna ortega in a look from the archives, donna karan 2004 resort, and louboutin rosalie sandals.
2. zoë kravitz bringing sexyback to the afterparty in ysl

3. mother tracee ellis ross in alexander vauthier spring/summer 2025
4. one of my favorite couples at the moment, brenda song and macaulay culkin. brenda wearing a gown from designer marmar halim. if anyone knows who macaulay is wearing, let me know. i'm sure they know the best hotels around too.

5. miley is now rocking microbangs and a simple strapless gown by maison margiela. (insert comment about necklace here)

6. icon of the ages, debbie harry, wearing custom gucci. it seems like gucci had one color on display. i love that cape and her sunglasses.
7. looking like a rockstar herself, hunter schafer kept the hair simple, wearing 16arlington. love the low cut, and i adore the fur coat. her afterparty looks are my faves every year.
8. here's a wow! moment, by none other than julia fox. she is wearing dilara findikoglu spring/summer 2023, looking like venus in chaos
9. megan thee stallion also wowed! poison ivy meets lil' kim at the 1999 mtv awards. this look sparked controversy online. i loved it, it's classy with a twist, it woke us up. this is a custom gown, but i was unable to find who the designer is.

10. olivia rodrigo sparking jealousy, jealousy in the snatched roberto cavalli dress. this photo doesn't show it, but dress is cut off at the ankles. i thought that was different.

fashion month is coming at it's close, and i've been working hard to catch most shows and reviewing them on my vogue app. the biggest takeaway for the fall/winter 25 season was the coats: these coats, shown on various runways, had big statement buttons, patches, artwork and many, many, paintings of flowers. what a way to connect beauty and individualism with a necessity for the winter. here are some looks i saved that seem to follow this trend.

sib and i try to go to church downtown, in the actual croatian church (completed in full croatian. to this day i don't know prayers in english). call me blasphemous, my favorite part of church was watching what the old ladies wear. when i used to have a finsta, i would go in full lengths analyzing fits by the "babe".
this week they have been on a coat kick, wearing their prim and proper michael kors coats from jcpenney. a couple ladies dared to step out the pews and prayed in powdery blue coats. i saw an old lady in a beret too. what an icon...

wear or tear?

before i wrap up for the week, bestie vic gave a recommendation to implement wear or tear for readers, and how could i say no to a fashion police moment for everyone?
choose this week's best dressed by completing this poll. it features photos and stars mentioned today. who flopped according to you?
