This week I remembered the power of a simple white t shirt, jeans and converse while sib and I were grocery shopping, and yapping away. How a simple cotton white tee can be styled in so many ways. This week I got to style a striped one with some white jeans AND my converse.

When I was a kid, I loved a good tomboyish look - I would wear a baggy t shirt, oversized camo denim shorts, my hair in my face, and all black converse with a batman graphic design. I felt so good. Androgynous looks are some of my faves (I LOVE moments I can suit up and add a tie - hence the blog name). Simple doesn't need to always be bad, or insecure. Sometimes one's attitude can be a great accessory. Ask all the great it-girls.
I've been entranced with the big bloggers of the late 00s and early 2010s. I just read the book Style Diaries: World Fashion from Berlin to Tokyo. This book was a huge inspiration and motivation to even begin my own blogging journey.

Furthermore, I watched Meet Me in the Bathroom, a documentary about the music scene of NYC in the early 200s, featuring the Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem, Rapture, TV on the Radio... It showed the pioneers of the indie sleaze scene. |

The indie sleaze/bloghaus era was so influential when I was a teen, and it felt unreachable to me while I was living in the middle of Mediterranean nowhere. I tried to DIY and attempt to follow the styles back then with what I was given, with limited resources. It was a fun challenge. I am so happy to see the resurgence of this style. Can we make sure that it brings back genuine individuality as a personal philosophy of style, and not just a trend?
Fashion month is already teasing us, and I will be glued to my phone waiting for Vogue updates on street styles and new shows. With that being said, Stockholm street style was a great treat for me. Warm jackets and head coverings everywhere was mega inspiration for me. Considering suburbia will stay pretty cold until late March (hopefully no later than this), my winter looks need to be comfortable, and not at risk for pneumonia. The ushanka stays, the puffers stay. I might be brave and add one of my (ethically thrifted) furs for some nights out, and well layered leather jackets too. I also love using a regular scarf as a headscarf especially if my hair is tied. And while we're at it, to mix the Stockholm inspo with indie sleazery, why not add a slouchy beanie?
