9-28-2025 MY FAVES: "when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping"

Image
books of the week continuing reading on & by andy warhol , and i love how gen-z he sounds - in one segment, he speaks about how people that don't work directly in the factory say he has an aura . in the "by" portion, it focuses on interviews with warhol or his own work. it seems he tried to "dumb it down" stating he "only reads books with pictures" and did not have a deeper meaning when focusing on pop!  or consumeristic art. brief mentions of valerie solanas (now eager to read her scum manifesto ), many mentions of getting shot (duhhh).  i guess he was ahead of his time, considering he was obsessed with tv and media, had a vibe/aura" to him, and was just kind of there - making "art" (question mark for some).  is the reincarnation of andy - those artsy fashion institute kids we see on tiktok - with cybersigil tattoos, wolf cuts etc...? or perhaps, the vibe is the art itself... the irony of pop art is inherent, since the pop artist ...

sib and i had a blast on tuesday - thinking it was the last tuesday of the month, when our local thrift store has everything 50% off . it wasn't this day, but sib got lucky with some sewing supplies, a colorful multi-pattern maxi skirt for a carrie bradshaw  outfit she's been attempting either make or recreate,  and a knit dress for the upcoming colder days. i flopped with getting a pair of too tight vintage  donna karan wool pants, but sib has hope to adjust them during her sewing projects. fingers crossed. i won't fret - they were $1.99. we did good though, very mindful and demure - we left behind a slouchy y2k leather purse, a velvet square patter maxi skirt, isabel maranta style boots, and many ralph lauren dresses, as well as roman pillar style candelabras and dvd players we didn't want to try and see if they worked (i'm in the search for a blu-ray addition too).  our shopping spree did not end there - we had a whole afternoon agenda. next stop was  ...

hispanic heritage style icons in honor of hispanic heritage month (sept 15 - oct 15), i figured i'd share some fave style icons that are of hispanic heritage. jenna ortega . she is of puerto rican and mexican descent. our gen z scream queen, and a lover of the art of film, she seems to be a very serious icon in the making - talented and stylish. she is seen here at the emmy's red carpet, wearing sarah burton's   givenchy f/w 2025  broken chandelier dress. many compared it to isabella rossellini in death becomes her . while i no longer have netflix, wednesday addams season 2 sounds super exciting this fall. penelope cruz .  javier bardem . i've been interested in watching some  pedro almodovar  films, and look forward to watching penelope cruz in her prime. bardem's statement at the emmy's boldly calling for a ceasefire in gaza was powerful - love the keffiyeh. these two just seem like an ideal power couple - a gene pool in the win. paloma elsesser . fa...
