10-19-2025 MY FAVES: i love a complex woman topic...

books of the week i read  city of ashes  and cringed at the painful awkwardness of the brief incestuous relationship the two characters have. you just know they're not supposed to be siblings but it just feels gross even reading about it. sorry if this was a spoiler alert for you. i also discovered (through the various goodreads quotes) that this book series was initially a harry/ginny fan fiction. john green, might i suggest your next research to be every book is a fan fiction .  the book itself had that young adult fantasy action to it, but with my grown age, in the big 25 - lots of stuff is vague, pointless, or there's plot holes. like the tarot use and catholic/christian mythology (a bit). next book, which i will be bringing with me, most likely, is another book i won  at the goodreads giveaway, called the period brain , and it tackles the stressful question any and every woman struggles with: what the hell is my pms?! looking forward to this one. i also r...

10-19-2025 MY INSPO: all about the boy

Image
it's boyfriend's birthday week, and i wanted to share some of that love here on the blog. boyfriend has incredibly eclectic taste, opinions, and often lifestyle. his eye for the aesthetics and antiques are niche, and we often joke that between my collectibles and his own - we could easily create a museum or antique store.  to honor this dude i asked him some questions on fashion and style - here's what buddy had to say: what’s the first thing you think about when you wake up? first thing i think of when i wake up is if i am late to work or not. is it a work day or not? what else do i have to do today? what is the item from where you start building outfits? item that started building outfits was gap from jcpennys, matching turtle necks and long sleeves with the pants/ jeans when do you plan your outfits? i plan outfits on situations and feelings, if it’s a relaxed situation and not at work or wedding it will be comfortable non business casual but for weddings it will be...

10-12-2025 MY INSPO: melani safari

this week's inspo comes from childhood - one of sib's best fashion moments. i may have mentioned in passed entries, but we were introduced to fashion and haute couture and all that screams luxury by our mother. she styled us as toddlers, taught us of the importance of chanel no. 5 (her signature scent) , gave us her old pierre cardin tops from the department store, let us rummage through her old outfits from yugoslavia  and italy  (when you had to buy real jeans in trieste), and bought us a limited edition elizabeth taylor  barbie doll.  through our games and playing pretend, fashion was prominent - our  bratz dolls  had boutiques and fashion shows, in a pretend game of camp i was coco chanel's  long lost daughter, we played numerous dress up games (dollzmania, stardoll, daily dress up games, and roiworld, just to name a few), and one of the games i remember vividly was playing pretend that sib and i owned the boutique  melani safari . this aesth...

10-12-2025 MY FAVES: fashion breaking news

books of the week i read the september issue  of l'officiel. loved the article on manolo blahnik 's marie antoinette collection, and his thoughts on shoes: with a focus on craftsmanship, comfort, and "a touch of eccentricity," blahnik's designs are rooted in wearability. "shoes are not just accessories," he says. "they can transform a woman and change how she feels." his design process has changed little over time. "drawing shoes has become a kind of language, my way of dreaming," he says. "i know now that a shoe's magic is revealed only through iteration; returning to a design with fresh eyes leads to surprising new possibilities." sib won a goodreads giveaway  and got a comic book  called phantom road . described as mad max: fury road   meets the sandman in this high-octane adventure wrapped in a dark fantasy aesthetic  i don't read comics, ever really, but a free book on my shelf will never go unread. i read the...

10-12-2025 MY WEEK: the dress code is...

is it finally officially fall? the temperatures dipped, the leaves are crunchier, and the skies are losing the blue.i am not hating this change - i am missing out on halloween this year to go back to family in croatia, and sib and i are going to try and squeeze our fall traditions (pumpkin patch, halloween movies, mandatory spirit halloween visits) this week as well. not get ahead of myself, as more will be said on the topic of my travels soon, but i am so excited to be back in motherland during fall. it's been almost 10 years since my last fall there (senior year of high school).  this week's looks the app merazine  has  dress code challenges  for users to create moodboards based on the "dress code" from making your own hello kitty and labubu inspired looks, to what you would wear at paris fashion week or to study abroad, every day is a challenge. i decided to take it next level and instead of digital vision boards - actually use the challenge as inspo for my own wa...
